Located on Hurontario Street in Mississauga, Hakka Ren is a Chinese restaurant that has garnered a loyal following since its inception in 2018. As a regular patron myself, I can attest to its addictiveness, especially during the Covid era when it became my go-to spot for Friday night takeout.

My standard order, unchanged since my first visit, consists of a small portion of vegetable hot and sour soup, veg hot garlic noodles, paneer chili dry, fried noodles for the soup, a side of steamed rice, and a refreshing sweet and salty fresh lime soda. While I occasionally toy with the idea of trying other vegetarian options, I inevitably find comfort in my familiar order.

The vegetable hot and sour soup stands out for its rich flavor and generous portion size, easily satisfying two people. Packed with a variety of veggies, it never fails to impress with its depth of flavor.

However, it's the paneer chili dry that steals the show. Among the plethora of Hakka restaurants in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Hakka Ren's rendition reigns supreme. The taste is consistently delightful, though the texture of the paneer can vary from visit to visit, ranging from too soft to perfectly firm. Despite this inconsistency, the flavor remains consistently exceptional.

The veg hot garlic noodles, while a personal favorite, are admittedly on the oily side. Despite their vibrant colors and excessive oiliness, they remain irresistibly delicious, making them a guilty pleasure for many patrons.

To wash down the spicy Hakka fare, the sweet and sour fresh lime soda proves to be the perfect companion, offering a refreshing contrast to the bold flavors of the dishes.

While the quality of the food justifies the price, it's worth noting that dining at Hakka Ren can be on the expensive side. A typical meal for three, including beverages, can easily exceed $75 before taxes.

Despite the premium price point, Hakka Ren remains a staple in my dining repertoire. Its unparalleled combination of bold flavors, generous portions, and reliable customer service ensures that it remains my top choice when craving hot and spicy Hakka cuisine.

Speaking of customer service, I have always found the staff at Hakka Ren to be attentive and accommodating, further enhancing the overall dining experience.

In conclusion, Hakka Ren is more than just a restaurant—it's a culinary sanctuary for lovers of Hakka cuisine. While it may dent your wallet, the unforgettable flavors and impeccable service make it a worthwhile indulgence time...

I recently visited this restaurant over the long weekend and was looking forward to trying it out for the first time. When I arrived at the restaurant it was packed with a lot of people, a bit to many for the size of the place.

I ordered food for takeout instead and wanted to try their plant based items. Ended up ordering the plant based chicken. The lady said it would take 20mins (only one person ahead of me for takeout) 5 others behind me were ordering next. After waiting for 30 mins, received a call from the restaurant that they "ran" out of the plant based chicken I ordered and had to order something else that was available (Plant based beef or shrimp) So I ordered the beef. I'm sorry to say but if it takes the cooks 30 mins to tell me you have ran out of food and to re-order something, this is not good customer service..

After another 20 mins of waiting another customer came out with there food and told people outside who were waiting that there was a lot of ordered sitting on the table (The restaurant was suppose to call when your order is done) so my friends and I went in, their orders were done but mine was not. (I ordered first and it seems I had to wait longer and everyone who ordered after me had already received their food) Mind you I ordered the same amount of food (3 items only)

When I finally received my order I had not checked before I left and they gave me the wrong order (they gave me drum sticks instead of the plant based beef). Only reason why I gave 1 star is because the drum sticks were good. When I checked the portions as well, they are not worth what you pay. I'm sorry.. You go to any restaurant that serves the same food and the black containers they give should be packed to the top when you close the lid. The vegetables I ordered were not, it was half full. The free rice I received was packed though. The drum sticks were an ok amount. and the fried rice was packed. Overall the whole process took over 1 hour and not 20 minutes. Would I come back here...probably not. I love supporting places with more vegetarian options but it is not worth the price or service received..was...

BUYER BEWARE!! What ever you do don’t purchase from this place go to CHILI CHICKEN HOUSE (ONLY 5 MINUTE DRIVE). I ordered a beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken and Hakka Noodles (PAID EXTRA FOR SHRIMP). Once I arrived home and opened up the meal I was shocked to see that the beef and broccoli was only broccoli, gravy and 3-4 be small pieces of beef. I also opened up the Hakka Noodles and seen that there was no shrimp and I called and spoke to someone on the phone that was very unprofessional and asked me to send them a whatsapp picture which I proceeded to do. They put me on hold for a long period of time so I hung up and waiting for a call back which wasn’t received. I was under the impression that they put chicken instead of shrimp however after calling them a second time and asked them what they thought about the picture they told me that it wasn’t chicken in my noodles it was egg and there should be shrimp. I dumped it all out into an open plate and as you guessed there was no shrimp which I paid extra for. I asked them what about the beef and broccoli meal and they said that the chef said he went 50/50 between broccoli and beef. I have attached the picture for everyone to make their own judgement. It’s like 95% broccoli 4% gravy and 1% beef. Absolutely no shrimp in the noodles. The sweet and sour chicken was all breaded and barely taste the chicken. Overall experience was horrible for my first time visiting this place. I will never return and stick to chili chicken house which is amazing 5 out of 5. Only reason I came to this place is because I didn’t have cash on me and chili chicken house doesn’t take credit card. Do yourself a favour and don’t come here because even if they mess up they will do absolutely nothing to make it right and basically call you a liar even after sending...

Again This is a Subjective review. My definition of Chinese food is the Indo-Chinese food available at local food stalls or so called Chinese restaurants of Mumbai. So going to a place with an authentic name like "Hakka Ren", I had 0 expectations. When we arrived at the restaurant at 8:00 PM on a Friday night as on 5th Oct 2023, the crowd was so much we had to wait for like 15 mins. The first thing we noticed was the place had an authentic Chinese look with little little things like lighting, statues, chinese zodiac on the table and so on. The second thing we noticed was there were lots of "Phone orders" and "Uber eats" orders. So now I had expectations. The first thing we ordered was a Chicken pakoras and they were decent crispy, surprised and surpassed my expectations. Second was chicken Schezwan rice, which again was good and in decent quantity. The food was so much that me and my wife had to pack the leftovers and take some back. Mind you we have very little appetite so your case might differ from us. Overall for me this was a good dinner and would definitely recommend this place. To sum it all up after the bill payment we got ourselves "Fortune cookies"
