tucked away in my neighborhood, a new gem has quietly emerged into the local sushi scene. having just opened its doors three months ago, sushiya bloom has already become my little secret retreat for those evenings when i'm craving something special but don't want to venture too far from home.
the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in this wonderfully moody atmosphere. the designers really understood the assignment - it's modern without trying too hard, with soft lighting that makes everyone look like they're glowing. it's the kind of place where you can actually have a conversation without raising your voice, perfect for a date night or just unwinding after a long day.
the sushi itself? it's fresh and satisfying, though i'll admit the portions aren't going to overwhelm you. but what was really nice was this sweet gesture they made - they brought out a complimentary plate of seared sashimi, a little "thank you" for being one of their first customers. it's these thoughtful touches that make new restaurants feel special.
i appreciate how they've thought through the full experience - every dinner dish comes with both salad and soup, which makes the meal feel more complete. though i had to chuckle when they served the miso soup without a spoon, explaining that "that's how they do it in japan." sure, i get the commitment to authenticity, but don't worry - they'll happily bring you a spoon if you ask. no judgment here.
bathroom is super clean and the design is just like the restaurant interior.
while there might be countless sushi spots in the city, there's something rather lovely about having one that feels like it belongs to the neighborhood. it's not trying to revolutionize sushi dining, but sometimes that's not what you're looking for. sometimes you just want a quiet corner where the fish is fresh and the ambiance makes you forget about the world outside for a...
Read moreWe were excited to try Sushiya Bloom, but our experience was a letdown. The tempura batter was dense and heavy, lacking the light and crispy texture we've come to expect from great tempura. However, the biggest disappointment was the extremely slow service. With only one wait staff attending to the dining room, it felt like take-out orders were being prioritized over in-dining guests. We waited over 50 minutes for our second platter to arrive, and to make matters worse, the food wasn't even worth the wait. The subpar cuisine combined with the sluggish service completely ruined our experience.
But what really took the cake was the mistake with our order. We had clearly ordered 1 large sashimi tray, 1 large sushi and rolls tray, and a chicken teriyaki roll. However, what arrived was 2 platters of Sushi, Sashimi, and Rolls, with no teriyaki roll in sight. When I brought this to the attention of the wait staff, he argued with me, insisting that I had ordered the incorrect items. What's even more astonishing is that he claimed to have confirmed the order with me, which was completely false. The fact that 9 other people at our table confirmed our original order didn't seem to matter to him. The lack of accountability and poor communication from the staff was shocking. Until Sushiya Bloom improves their service, food quality, and attention to detail, we won't...

Surprised to find there’s a new Japanese restaurant in town! Was really surprised by this new sushi place. I been to most Japanese restaurants in Mississauga and always hunting for new adventures.
The inside was very well designed, spacious and CLEAN. We had a seat near the windows and it was perfect.
The food was really good, the sushi and sashimi + rolls platter was delicious and the fish was very fresh. The lunch combos were also delicious (teriyaki salmon) and the amount of food is very good.
We also tried the beef udon and also an order of veggie tempura and takoyaki both was very good. (IMO, if you want the tempura better to get it with the lunch combo!)
Service was also good as well.
Overall - the menu isn’t anything shockingly new, but a very good solid choice for Japanese food in Mississauga.
Will definitely visit again!
P.S - to owner : I really love the cat sauce dishes, but they’re a bit too shallow and when dipped some sauces will come out :( also the soy sauce bottle we got had some issues, if poured gently sauce will spill down...
