I had a lot of hopes for this place and was excited to try out "Oklahoma style burgers" as it has been something on my bucketlist to try George's Motz's burgers one day (known as the burger expert, and own's an iconic Oklahoma style burger joint in the USA) . Hoping it would at least give me a standard of what to expect the day I had Motz's burger. This is definitely not the place to compare any burger to... at least from mine and a few of my friend's personal experiences.
The food... All our burgers were OVERLY salted with a slap of too much black peppers that it was really hard to even eat, losing our appetites. The burger lacked sautéed onions (mine had about 4 small pieces) that characteristic of the "Oklahoma burger". They also put way too much mustard that it made the buns even soggier due to the lack of toasted bun over the grill (note mine does not have the characteristic browning on top of the bun as comparable to their Instagram’s standardized burger). Our Mac and cheese (Smokey Sam’s) didnt have enough salt and lack any distinctive flavour profile comparable, can describe it as boxed mac and cheese with crumbled corn flakes over it. (They actually had cornflakes) and our fries were decent but again, also lacked salt. It seemed all the salt the lacked went into the burger patty... Truly a hot mess. (When we gave feedback - read in service section..) The food and the service seem like it had a of potential and we would have given it a decent score if it wasn't for the OVERLY salted burgers. I thought my burger was only one with the salt problem. My friends felt the same. I wonder if anyone else in that restaurant felt the same or we were unlucky.
Service... Upon arrival, We were a bit confused as our host disappeared on us after we thought they were taking us to our seats. Food came fast (which was a plus.... at the time, but maybe too fast if you factor in the mistake). Waiter promptly gave us our drinks and extra ice and water fairly quickly in the beginning, so that was a plus.
Salty Burger feedback... When we mentioned it to our waitress about it being overly salty, and to let the Cooks know, to at least be aware to make adjustments. (Note this isnt the first feedback about it being "too salty" from the reviews). She just shrugged it off and said "oh... sorry." and Walks away. Overall the service was "okay" at best. But I don't think I would return due to the overall experience.
Environment The environment seems bright and open with minimal decorations. Spacious. Bit confusing when you walk in as it's listed as "food hall" but people end up seating you. Like a normal restaurant.
Disclaimer: I usually don't like complaining and I usually take what I get as long as it's edible even if it was a mistake because I sympathize with hospitality workers (having been one myself - as a cook)... But when I feel I really need to say something, I will. I didn't expect a free meal or anything but the fact that there was absolutely no effort to give reassurance that communication would be relay to the kitchen or at least a genuine apology would have suffice. It's kind of disappointing to feel like we spent our time and hard earned money to receive this experience is unsatisfactory and resulted in what we felt in the tips that night. (which I generally feel guilty not giving a certain amount, but tips are meant to reflect one's experience otherwise...)
If you're afraid of your food being too salty, maybe just remind them this is what you saw in the reviews... cause you may not get any hospitality or sympathy from them.
Yes, I sound super bitter, I am - must be all that saltiness I ingested and experienced service wise.... :)
Food, service and consistency could use work. Otherwise, food is wasn't terrible, just needed adjustment, hospitality and communication would of made us feel more forgiving. I would NOT go out of my way to go again unfortunately. I Would not recommend...
Read moreThis burger place is located inside the base of the emerald center basically it's at he Hurontario and 403 Just under the remax sign if you're looking how to get in as it's not exactly inside the main entrance there's a side entrance there just to the right of the main entrance. Oklahoma burgers are truly great smash burgers and they are original to the Smashburger recipe which is basically just burger cheese onions all smashed in together. They're served on a delicious toasted bun which is soft and flavorful. The menu also offers a variety of different types of burgers and there's a brisket jalapeno triple smash burger which looks really good. For dessert I would try their deep fried peanut butter and jelly donut. In the same restaurant setting is also Smokey Sam's which is a great looking barbecue and rib place serving short ribs back ribs and also some ribs with some tandoori flavoring. There is also a restaurant called Karak which is serving stuffed Naans , fusion nanns, as well as some vegetarian options. They also have a lot of traditional Indian desserts. Another unique feature to this restaurant is there is a little prayer room or people that are observing Muslim culture. Like that was nice to see. The dining room is elegantly designed and definitely a comfortable atmosphere. There is also seating available outside on the patio which gives a nice setting.. The manager Muskan and hostess that helped me is very nice and excels at her job.
Lastly my apology for some of the pictures coming out upside down on the review I tried to fix it but for some reason when it was unable to edit the pictures only... I'm having a senior moment. Speaking of seniors and people with other disabilities this place is also completely...
Read moreFirst and foremost, I was a bit disappointed. I saw this place on TikTok yesterday and made it my mission to go as soon as I got into town (since I’m from out of town).
I ordered two Oklahoma burgers, three Classics, and two fries. A few things stood out:
• Buns: Way too small for the size of the burger. They should definitely be bigger. • Oklahoma Burger: The TikTok videos show it packed with onions, which is exactly why I ordered it. Unfortunately, mine barely had any onions, and the little that was there was clumped in one small section instead of spread throughout. That felt misleading—if you’re advertising a loaded onion burger, at least make it look close to what you promote.
• Classic Burger: Each had only one slice of tomato. For the price point, at least two slices and more toppings would make sense. As it was, the Classics honestly reminded me of McDonald’s cheeseburgers—not the upgraded version I was expecting based on TikTok and the DoorDash menu.
• Fries: Not crinkle-cut as advertised, just regular with basic seasoning. Nothing special about them.
The patties themselves were also under-seasoned, which made the burgers even less enjoyable.
I phoned the restaurant to share my feedback, but the woman I spoke to didn’t seem interested in trying to fix my experience. Her only response was, “I’ll tell the chef.” That didn’t feel reassuring.
For the price, this just didn’t add up. If the burgers are going to be this plain, they should be around $5, not what they’re charging now. I don’t believe I’ll...
