Food tastes great, made fresh, all the ingredients and combination of flavours are simple but come together quite beautifully... Traditional afghan food is served here... Including things such as rice plates with salad and grilled kabobs or meat... Stuffed ravioli for example (mutabul?) and fresh naan type breads come with the filling meals that taste amazing. They're served with a light garlic or Yogurt type sauce and spicy sauce which are great but given sparingly. The place is usually clean sometimes the chairs are kind of dirty. A lot of Pakistani families I know go here almost every week or every other week.. I would love to see an expansion.. They've renovated and it looks great but it can get extremely packed on Friday evenings and weekends or, during Islamic or other holidays. There's usually a wait if you go on busier days such as ramadan as well. Recommend going on non-busy weekday or daytime hours, also if you're shorter or have kids in tow the tables are high and the seats are low in the booths so sit at a table with chairs if you can. Try the chicken or mixed grill dishes with the rice/salad platter included, they're the best. Been to a few afghan grill type places and nothing has beat this place for me personally. To order you go up front after looking at the menu and order/pay then sit down and they call your number then you go grab your food again up front. Service could be a bit better as others have mentioned a lack there of... The owner or manager not sure if she's there anymore was quite rude and also cheap. We asked for more sauce and she said that we have to finish what we had first which was nothing.. Why would we get up again while eating if we know we are gonna finish the small amount of white sauce provided in the first place? Anyways we still go here and other staff gives us extra...
Read moreI recently visited Kandahar Kabab with my family, and unfortunately, the experience wasn't what it used to be. A few months ago, this place was amazing—big plates, plenty of drinks like cans of pop, and great value overall. But things have really changed, and not for the better.
Food Quality (3/5): The food was just okay this time. The salad seemed a couple of days old, and the plates are noticeably smaller. It’s frustrating because when I tried to eat, the food would spill out of the plate every time I put my spoon in. It’s clear they’re cutting corners, which is making them lose both quality and quantity.
Value (2/5): The value is super disappointing now. They’ve clearly cut down on portions and options. They used to offer $1 pop, but now they don't even have that. Instead, they've switched to some random brand that costs $4, which feels like a downgrade. The bread was also hard, likely from being overheated.
Overall Experience (3/5):Kandahar Kabab needs to seriously reconsider its approach. Cutting down on portions and quality while offering fewer drink options has really hurt the value. If they want to keep customers, they need to return to the generous portions and quality they were known for, or at least reduce the cost. It’s disappointing to see a place that was once so good go...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant and had a rather disappointing experience. Initially, a staff member offered a free mango lassi in exchange for a review, which I thought was a nice gesture. However, when I went to pick up my food, she immediately asked if I had written the review yet. I mentioned that I was just there to collect my order and would review it after tasting the food.
While I was waiting, another family member did go ahead and leave a review, but when we showed it to her, she handed us a different drink instead of the promised mango lassi. This raised some red flags for me; it felt like there was an unusual pressure for positive reviews, which made me question the integrity of the place.
The food itself did not meet my expectations, especially considering this restaurant's previous reputation for delicious meals. It seems like there’s been a management change, and they may be struggling to maintain quality while also trying to boost their ratings. I also suspect that many of the glowing reviews are paid or incentivized.
Overall, it’s clear that this restaurant is undergoing some changes, including hiring new staff, but I hope they can refocus on the quality of their food and service rather than just chasing...
