I came to Grillados after seeing a TikTok recommendation from HalalorNothing, and the menu looked good enough to justify the drive from Oakville. But from the moment I arrived (Friday night, Feb 14), the experience was a disaster.
The staff was visibly annoyed by customers, completely unresponsive, and disorganized beyond belief. There was no proper lineup—just a group of confused customers gathered at the front, all trying to figure out who to talk to about getting seated. I needed a table for two, so I said “excuse me” loud enough for the whole crowd to hear. One of the workers ignored me, then turned around 20 seconds later and suddenly decided to acknowledge me. Clearly, she heard me the first time but chose not to respond.
It was 10 PM, and they close at midnight. She took my name for a table and told me to wait 30-40 minutes for a call back. After 45 minutes of silence, I had to go back inside myself—only to find out there was already a table ready, and they just hadn’t bothered to call. She seated us with a cold attitude, acting like we were a burden rather than customers.
Then came the ordering process—if you can even call it that. I stood waiting at the counter while staff sluggishly walked around, avoiding eye contact and not taking orders. When they finally acknowledged me, I ordered a steak, only to be told they don’t serve steaks at this time. Why wasn’t I told this when they took my name earlier? A simple heads-up would’ve saved time and frustration, but basic communication seemed impossible for this staff.
At this point, I was fed up and left. The incompetence of the staff ruined my night’s plans and wasted over an hour of my time. And I wasn’t the only one frustrated—I watched another table get up and demand a refund after waiting two hours for their order. Based on my experience, that complaint was completely believable.
I never leave negative reviews, but this place truly earned it. The level of disorganization, lack of customer service, and sheer indifference from the staff was shocking. Management needs to seriously retrain their entire Friday night crew because they acted like they were working for free.
1/5 — Absolutely would not recommend this...
Read moreI should have expected the poor quality when I walked in. It felt like I walked in a fast food store that was posing as fine dining. The workers looked like your average fast food employee. Rather than being greeted we were made to feel like a nuisance. The decor and entrance gave off a similar vibe to a burrito shop, not that that in itself is a problem, but at this price point the expectations are high.
We ordered the veggie nachos, lamb chops, and chicken espetadas. Between the two mains, we got three sides: spicy rice, peri fries, and mixed grilled veggies. Altogether, it costed us $91.50.
The nachos were ok, a little heavy on the sauce. They used classic tostito style chips with all the usual toppings. The cheese was very melty and seemed like mozzarella with how stringy it was. Overall, it was a little below my standard for nachos but acceptable.
The lamb chops were the worst. $45 for four thin, small cuts of chops flavoured with only black pepper. It was cooked as if they tried to remove any water content left. The picture made it look a lot better with sauces and garnishes. It came with four rings of red onion barely cooked. It came with a Portuguese bun that looked and tasted stale. If you've ever had Portuguese buns, you'd know them for their moist fluffy contents; this was the complete opposite.
The chicken espetadas looked fancy, being skewered and hung. Unfortunately, it was as dry as the desert and right in line with the lamb chops. It came with varying spice options; we picked spicy. It tasted like they covered it in MILD peri peri sauce. That's it for flavouring.
Of the sides, the peri fries were okay. The spicy rice should have been named salty rice because that's the only thing I could taste. The veggies tasted okay, nothing noteworthy.
Overall, a very disappointing and...
Read moreThere are some things I did not like about this restaurant, such as they didn't allow us to order for dining in advance and that meant that we had to wait nearly an hour for the food to arrive. Also 5 to 10 minutes after placing my order, I wanted to change one of the sides, instead of getting a coleslaw, I wanted to get onion rings, but they said they were too busy to accommodate my request. Furthermore, I kept waiting on my table for a server to come and take my order request, but after waiting for 15 minutes or so I realized that even though the servers are bringing everybody else's food to their tables, I might still have to go up to the counter to order. So I went up to the counter and I found out that I had to order over there. It would have been nice to have known this in advance. Also, I would have loved to tip my server, but because I had to pay before the food arrived at the very start of my arrival at the restaurant, this meant I had no chance to make a judgment on my server to tip them. I highly recommend them that they charge us customers after we are done eating the food so we can better assess everything and tip accordingly.
Yet besides these points, I am more than happy to give this restaurant five out of five with all my heart. The reason for this is because the food is extremely delicious, without any doubt, every single thing that I tried was the best that I have tried in the GTA thus far. The washrooms are very clean and spacious, there's also a dedicated prayer room for those who want to pray, the vibe is also quite exceptional, the food as I mentioned already is tremendously delicious, and the prices are also reasonable considering what you get. The service is also very friendly. They also gave us complimentary food for making us...
