When looking at different bakeries for our wedding cake, we really wanted to find a bakery that would be able to create a stunning looking cake but that also tasted delicious. We tried many bakeries, but nothing was quite right. Either the cakes looked amazing but tasted bland, or they tasted amazing but the cakes looked like standard grocery store cakes. We found La Casa Dolce one day while pursuing through the explore tab on instagram. The cakes looked fantastic, and the fondant work on some of them were incredible. We discovered they were just a short drive away so we decided to head over to the bakery and try some goodies. We initially sampled some cupcakes and were impressed by the softness and lightness of the cake. The icing was not thick at all and we could tell that they were very fresh and made with real ingredients. We emailed them to book an official wedding cake tasting.
We sampled their 3 most popular flavours for weddings ā lemon raspberry, red velvet, and cookies and cream. The samples were full size slices so we were on a bit of a sugar high after our 10 am appointment. Kristin was very helpful. She asked us how many guests we were expecting and gave us 4 different options of cake on the quote ā differing amounts of tiers, how many people they would serve, and the price each would cost. We were super impressed by the honesty when Kristin told us that no matter who we book with that we should not pay tax on the wedding cake. We relayed this info to the other bakeries we sampled and got some negative responses to that info. That was when we knew that La Casa Dolce would be making our wedding cake for us. Affordable, honest, delicious works of art.
The days leading up to the wedding, we coordinated the delivery of the decor we wanted on our cake and some inspiration pictures to boot. We dropped off some live branches of cedar and our cake topper/stand etc. the day before the wedding. We were running a bunch of errands after dropping that off when Kristin called us and said they had some leftover pinecones and roses from another cake, and if we were okay with it, could the designer use some of those pieces on our cake? We told them to take full artistic license ā based on what weāve seen up to this point, we are reassured that it will look amazing. The next day (our wedding day) we didnāt see the cake until the guests saw it as well. The bakery delivered it to the venue exactly when they said they would. When we saw the final product we were blown away by how beautiful the cake was. La Casa Dolce took our vision and made it better than we could have ever imagined. We ended up going with the lemon raspberry cake which we served for dessert along with a lemon raspberry sorbet. When we cut the cake it was super soft and easy to slice. The cake was VERY easy to eat. We ordered a cake of 75 servings, we only had 50 guests, and by the end of the night we only had 6 slices left. You do the math! We received so many compliments on how āon pointā the cake looked and tasted. That made us super happy to hear because that reaffirmed that we had made the right choice. We would definitely order a custom cake from La Casa Dolce for a future event or even just because. You will not be...

After my initial experience, the team reached out to me and went above and beyond to make things right. The person I spoke with was genuine, kind, and apologetic, offering a thoughtful gesture to make amends. I appreciated their willingness to listen and implement changes to prevent similar issues in the future. Their proactive approach and commitment to improvement was really thoguhtful and appreciated.
What truly impressed me was La Casa Dolce's strong commitment to remediation and customer care. They demonstrate a genuine willingness to listen to customer concerns, take responsibility for mistakes, and make things right. This experience has taught me the importance of giving businesses a chance to fix things when they go wrong, and La Casa Dolce has set a high standard for customer service. I'm looking forward to continuing to support La Casa Dolce and enjoying their delicious desserts! Thank you for taking the time to address my concerns and for providing such great customer care!
Past review (edited slightly): We ordered our wedding cakes from here. I called to order because on the online ordering form we couldn't find a spot to add writing on the cake. We were ordering two cakes and on the phone I clearly stated I wanted a strawberry cheesecake 'cake' which is an option they have on their website. I felt we were both on the same page on the phone and the total after everything I ordered seemed right. When we showed up they had made one of the cakes and just a strawberry cheesecake not the 'cake' version which is very eye catching and matched our wedding colours (the reason we ordered it). They didn't offer any real remediation and I was stuck with the cheesecake. They said they do not normally make that cake for the counter so they did not have any extras in stock. I feel if you are going to offer something so close in name to another product to clarify with the customer and make sure you have the right...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been coming to this place regularly for the past eight months, often on weekends with my family. It used to be one of our favorite spots. Unfortunately, as of today, Iāve decided not to return.
What pushed me to write this is what happened today. I stopped by to order a croissant and an espresso. There were only two butter croissants left, both clearly overbaked and almost burnt. I politely asked if they would be making more, and the response I got ā in a rude tone ā was, āThatās all we have, sir.ā Thatās when I decided Iām done with this place.
The service has declined so much that itās honestly disappointing. I used to order a simple custom sandwich for my son, and last time I asked for it, I was made to feel like I was asking for something outrageous. They no longer make it, and the attitude I received made me uncomfortable for even asking.
Iāve also been served butter croissants that were microwaved. If you know even a little bit about croissants, you know that microwaving them ruins the texture completely. For nearly $4, I shouldnāt be eating something that feels like rubber.
Espresso quality has also dropped. What used to be smooth and enjoyable now tastes bitter and cheap. Almost every time Iāve ordered espresso, itās been spilled in the cup and served like that. Most of the front staff seem lost, with the exception of Audrey and a few others. The managers walk around with no warmth, smile, or engagement, and frankly, itās not a welcoming environment anymore.
Itās disappointing because I live just two minutes away and used to love this place. But after several chances, Iām done. I wonāt be coming back, and neither will anyone...
