Miga has been my absolute favorite restaurant for years now. Its the place my wife and I went on our honeymoon dinner and our anniversary dinners, and whatever other special occasions we can justify it. We had last been here December 2023 and the experience was as perfect as all the times previous. We decided to go out for my birthday dinner last night (August 17 2024) and we were very surprised and frustrated to see the premium Wagyu set had changed dramatically. The price had gone up to $175 before tax (198 after tax). The beef dumplings were replaced by something called vegetable pancakes which I couldn't even find as a side option on the menu. They were extremely heavy and greasy and we could only manage to eat 1 of the 3. The 5 PC tempura shrimp was replaced by a 3 PC gochu shrimp. The udon noodles were mushy and overcooked. The bokchoy was flavorless. The ribeye steak was replaced by a lower grade beef. I cannot recall what exactly it was but something like a chuck round, and the quality difference was immediately apparent with the lack of marbling on the beef. It was more apparent after cooking because it was very chewy. And on top of that, the portions are MUCH smaller when comparing photos of last year to this year. When I raised concerns to the waiter about all of the changes I was simply told that's how it is and items cannot be replaced. I asked to speak to a manager and Kana came to speak with us. She heard our concerns and told us there were changes in price from the supplier that forced changes on the menu. but she gave us an order of beef dumplings, gave her business card, and told us to ask for her if coming in the future and she will do her best to help us. The help and gesture was greatly appreciated but there are just way too many changes to ask for. I really just can't believe it.
It is very unfortunate that I felt compelled to write this review today. But I have always come to miga knowing that I'll be spending more money than usual for an out-of-this-world dining experience. At $100 per person, I may expect a lot but my expectations have always been exceeded until now. And unfortunately I cannot see myself spending that kind of money for the food and service provided any more. Between the changes in menu, the changes in price, the changes in meat quality, and the changes in portion size I don't believe Ill be coming back unless these concerns are listened to and...
Read moreKBBQ has been my new addiction since I love exploring new cuisines from different cultures. This time it was all about indulging in a whole new BBQ experience in Sauga 😇. I visited Miga BBQ yesterday to try and taste their signature dishes a bit before their reopening and, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the rich flavours and spices from this feast.
Just to give you all a quick background, Miga BBQ has been appreciated by the locals for over 15 yrs for bringing in all the fresh and high-quality products and delivering them with perfection 🙌🏻 . They use A4 Japanese Wagyu Beef 🥩 (sirloin) from Iwate Prefecture and, all the meats are handcrafted/marinated in-house! 💥
Firstly, I need to admire the packaging it was so clever. I got almost everything under the box as a perfect takeout BBQ🫕. I got a chance to try their Premium Wagyu Box 🍱, the newly introduced snack 'Jugee' balls 🍚 and their signature Gochu Wings 🍗.
🥩 Premium Wagyu Box - These are a limited edition picnic box that comes with thin-sliced and marinated Japanese A4 Wagyu Sirloin over premium Japanese Tamaki gold rice! served with Miga salad, shrimp tempura 2pcs, beef dumplings two pcs, sides and miso soup 🤤

Unfortunately, reservations are not accepted and you need to walk in to reserve a spot and I was a little disheartened to hear that I was facing a three hour wait. They were extremely polite about it and put me on it with a SMS notification. After a light stroll around the Glen Erin and Dundas area, I decided to take my party of three to the front for some drinks and light finger food. Edamame beans and a veggie fritter. The beans were well seasoned and the fritter was fried perfectly crispy without any traces of oil. Coupled with your standard variety of Korean free dishes (bean sprouts, bok choi and potatoes plus kimchi), it was quite a nice intro to what would be dinner. Our server was extremely attentive and polite and they kept coming around to keep tabs on everyone. The Pina colada my mom had was very nice and the Plum Cooler my dad had was equally strong. An hour rolled by and our table was ready. We wanted the Wagyu grill set but were told very apologetically by the front manager that they were out of Wagyu beef but instead offered to replace it with extra premium rib eye. It is what it is so we opted for that. The appetizers included a seafood pancake that was crispy on the edges but soft and chewy on the inside. The beef noodles were savoury and just in enough quantity to whet the appetite and the salad was refreshing. The grill meats were brought on and our grill was lit up. Miga opted for a grill with a small canister of charcoal lit through the bottom with butane gas. A smart decision to allow a charcoal flavour without the mess of having a full charcoal. The ribeye was wonderfully marbled and the pork belly was fatty yet not greasy. It was quite marvelous. To top off dinner, we closed out with a tiramisu that was very good with the only issue being it was clearly previously frozen and could have thawed a little bit longer. Otherwise though, I loved it. Accepts cash or credit. Parking is plentiful. Highly recommended for...
