we called ahead and found out they offer a 10% discount when paying cash, which was nice to know beforehand. the location is about 15-20 minutes from mississauga city centre, though it took us closer to 25-30 minutes to get there around 6 pm due to traffic.
when we arrived, the restaurant looked clean, and there were no dirty dishes left on tables. we were seated right away since there were plenty of empty tables.
using the iPad to check the menu, we saw the weekday dinner price (mon-thurs) was $35.95. since it was our first time here, we weren’t sure what to expect. we did notice the menu wasn’t as extensive as some other AYCE places. for example, the sashimi section didn’t include red bluefin tuna, which was surprising because others had photos of it in reviews. later, we realized you could order bluefin tuna, but only as sushi—not as sashimi. overall, the dinner menu felt a little limited compared to other spots.
as for the food, we found that some rolls used more rice or cheese and less fish, which threw off the balance. some of the sashimi and tempura had a briny scent and taste, which can sometimes happen with previously frozen fish. however, the salmon was a highlight—fresh and flavorful, with a good rice-to-vinegar ratio for the sushi rice. the grilled salmon sushi was definitely our favorite dish of the night.
one downside was the short rib, which was chewy and tough to eat.
our waiter provided consistent service, clearing dirty plates quickly and keeping our ocha green tea refilled. the complimentary tea was hot and comforting on a cold winter day.
paying the bill, however, was a bit confusing. a different staff member asked if we were paying cash, and when we said yes, we were initially charged regular price instead of the discounted amount. when we questioned it, she explained, “it’s tax-free already, you can’t get the discount,” but then walked away. shortly after, she returned and adjusted the bill. it felt a little strange because the tax-free policy was a government holiday mandate, not a restaurant incentive tied to paying cash.
what stood out as particularly odd was when the same staff member told us twice, “the bill doesn’t include tip,” before quickly walking away again. she didn’t return with our paid receipt, which felt awkward. we ended up giving our tip directly to our waiter, who had been great throughout the evening.
overall, this place is an affordable option for AYCE sushi at $35 on weekdays, but you get what you pay for. the menu is smaller, and some dishes were hit-or-miss. while the salmon was a standout and service from our waiter was solid, the inconsistent food quality and odd experience at the end left us feeling...
Read moreOrdered take out at 6.45pm on Friday Dec 4th, was told 30 minutes for pick up. 7.15 was in front of the restaurant, it was a mess, about 20 people bumping in to each other and squezzing in at the entrance waiting for pick up. Uber, door dash and skip the dishes drivers they were waiting for 1h or more to pick up everyone frustrated and warming up against each other, great covid times. At 7.45 tried to get an answer from the lady at the door, no help. Tried calling them to find out how much longer it will take for my order, no answer for half hour. Half frozen after an hour wait I gave up, picked up pizza on the way back to a very dissapointed waiting family. At 9.20 we get a phone call on a very rude tone to come and pick up the order?!? Only 2 and a half hours after. 3 stars and not 1 just because I heard the sushi is good here. Too bad I didn't get a chance to try it. I took a bunch of pictures of the craziness happening in front. I'll try posting them. Not more than a couple of orders got out the door within the hour spend in the minus temperatures. I can only blame it on the understaffed night, for us a bunch of hungry poor souls waiting like beggers outside it was a nightmare. Edit after business response: I'm happy to hear about your concern of not being able to have it organized so customers won't be rubbing against each other. Yet the problem started with orders not being honored, you had customers together with delivery drivers waiting for more than 1 hour past the pick up time, in between your inside doors, on not more than 1 square meter. While waiting for 1 hour not more than 2-3 orders got out the door. I just hope this was only for last night. It was just chaos that culminated with the rude phone call 2 and a half hours after ordering to come and pick up. Who in their right mind will even have the nerve to call a customer after 2 and a half hours and after putting him through such an ordeal? Again, I just hope it was just an odd night for you guys. Wish you all the best!...
Read moreMost of the food are okay, but the soup noodles have no taste at all, and the soups are just not how it should taste like, taste even more lame than instant soup from supermarket. I am only giving 1 star because of the food are ok, or else it would be 0 for service if that's even possible. Me and my friends went at 8, I was not greeted or even served when I got there. After I have ordered, I asked the waiter a question and he kept saying yes without even understand my question despite my effort to try explaining, then he just said wait and walked away, no one came by afterward and we had to ask another waitress for help. Worst part was near the end of our meal, apparently they close at 10 that day, and at 9 the lady kept taking away our plates with food on them, which we were still working on, and said last order, so we asked for 5 mins to have our order ready. in that 5 mins she just stared at us. when last order arrived around 9:15, she came by and just straight up asked if it's seperated bill or single bill, not even asking if we want it yet. around 930, she had changed, wore her jacket, on her phone, standing right beside us, then she started taking away our plates when we were still eating from the plates. Before 935 she suddenly reached over my head and let the curtain down as if she can't even wait another 2 mins, my friend wanted to take away the last small piece of sweet potato tempura and I wanted take away the 1/3 can of coke that we didn't get to finish becahse theg are rushing us out but don't want to waste, the lady just grabbed it from my friends hand and said you can't take it away, we are throwing them away. When we were leaving we told her that she shouldn't rush customers out like that and she just said okok sorry, wasn't even sincere about that... Wish they can improve, but we...
