Potluck Caribbean Cuisine — Restaurant in Mississauga

My partner and I visited another location previously and decided to leave and come to this location not realizing it was the same restaurant or franchise.

We stayed and gave it a try. He ordered the jerk chicken. I ordered the curry goat roti. Now, I am Jamaican. My expectations were going to be high. I know authentic Caribbean food. I know the ingredients used seemed right, however, the interaction was a little off putting.

My partner is not quite familiar of great Caribbean cuisine so his expectations were going to vary slightly.

Mississauga is his hometown and Milton was mine. We were on the quest for the perfect spot to post online to start Tik Tok blogs. Had I read the comments and went by my instincts on presentation of food on the websites and in store, I would not have ordered.

Service: The First Lady at the counter seemed pleasant but when I asked about boneless curry goat roti she gave me a big speech about it was not something they did, too much work. Red flag !!! My hunger and kindness made me give it a chance.

It was hard to eat for these reasons; too runny, bones in every bite and the shell used was wet and doughy.

My partners food appeared to be dried out either by being overcooked or sitting in the pan being warmed up too long. Maybe from being stale or not freshly cooked that day.

I tasted the chicken and was disappointed to be right on the money. Now, the coleslaw was perfect! It had the right amount of creamy consistency and appeared to be fresh and was pleasing to the eyes.

My partner rated his meal 7 out of 10. I give it 6. If not for the coleslaw, a 5.

Our drinks were also warm. Drinks should always be cold, Period!

Then it was disturbing to overhear the conversation the First Lady had with the cook. If there is one word you don’t want to hear is “Nasty”!

I always recommend a friendly atmosphere but the cook started to sing in the back. Unprofessional indeed! She didn’t even have the voice or suitable choice of song.

I won’t be going back. I cross this franchise...

Very very disappointed. I spend lots of money here and lately they do not follow order instructions, even when you call them before ordering. I’ve paid extra for things and don’t receive them or get a refund. Not even a call. On some days food is really good on certain days it’s like they’re lazy. This jerk chicken is a prime example. Has no taste and undercooked. I also ordered 2 boneless large curry and only received one. Do not order off Uber eats, better off going in person.

Update 01/29/2024 Potluck replied here but still hasn’t rectified or addressed my issues via email. They haven’t even replied back. Simply won’t suggest or spend anymore money here.

Update 02/15/2024 Still no resolution and despite my SEVERAL orders that they made wrong or sent what the felt, lack of answering the phone... I decided to accept their offer of a full meal replacement or refund. At first I was gonna accept a replacement but no longer in the area so opt in for a refund on my last order they completely disregarded the nasty tasting unappealing fish they sent, ackee n white rice??? When I ordered provision..... All the things I just didn't recieve and couldn't get my money back through uber, recommended here to someone amd they said they got food poisioning? I sent my etransfer email 3x right away for this refund and 2 days later still haven’t recieved anything much less a response. Also, you can tell they have multiple chefs foods a hit or miss. I don't even want the refund just please DO NOT ORDER OFF UBER EATS ETC. I will not update my review again and I'll upload more pictures of the food I recieved. My daughter will also be leaving a...

I just want to give this location a HUGE thank you and if I could give 10 stars I would! We ordered through door dash and we were a meal short when it was delivered. This restaurant did everything they could to help us resolve the issue and ultimately they had one of their team members personally deliver our meal along with a couple of patties as a compensation for the mishap. The restaurant was so helpful and apologetic as was the girl who delivered. As always, the food was delicious, we ordered jerk chicken, oxtail, rice and peas coleslaw & festivals, but the service is what stood out and needs to be commended...you just don't get outstanding customer service nowadays, people going above and beyond for a customer. So to this Potluck location we thank you for everything you did to make it right. You made a lasting impression on us and our guest we had visiting. Thank you again...oh and all the years we have been ordering from you we have never tried your patties but...
