From the outside, Soranno’s looks like a cozy, homemade Italian restaurant known for large, shareable family portions—and while portion sizes were indeed generous and the owner friendly, the rest of our experience was far from what we expected.
The indoor dining space was small, cramped, and uncomfortably hot with no air conditioning running. The staff appeared inexperienced—dishes were missed, a very dirty beer glass were brought on the table, service was slow, and items like garlic bread, parmesan, and pepper sauce didn’t arrive until we were packing up our leftovers. Basic table service was lacking.
Our appetizer platter was good and shareable. The kids’ meal portion was generous, and arrived early in service. But we waited over an hour for our main entree. I eventually approached the chef, who reassured me everything “was made from scratch, and made to order.” When our entrée finally arrived, it were hot and very large - family size- more than enough for two.
We boxed up the rest and received two complimentary cannoli as a parting gift (and subtle nudge for a good Google review). I was ready to leave it at that, but as we walked out, I glanced through the open kitchen window from the street and saw a full jar of Classico Alfredo sauce sitting in the center of the prep table. It was hard not to connect the dots—especially since I have the same $2.50 jar at home.
The cannoli, while appreciated, looked nearly identical to a Costco 72-count Original Sicilian Cannoli Kit I’ve seen before. I’ll be doing a taste test with my leftover rosé tortellini and the Classico Rosé Sauce in my pantry for comparison.
This experience left a bad taste. I truly want to support local restaurants, but I can’t support being misled. I was told everything was made in-house from scratch—but what I saw, and tasted, suggests otherwise.
I won’t be returning, and will be sharing this experience with friends and neighbours so they can decide...
Read moreMy wife and I just celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary at Soranno's. I looked all over Mississauga and Oakville, looking to find a nice Italian place to take my wife. Trust me when I say the reviews are all true. Within 10 seconds of meeting Chef Tony, you completely understand all the amazing things everyone has to say about him. He makes you feel like you have known him for years. It took care of us from the second we walked in to the moment we left, it felt like being around family. He started us with some garlic bread with his homemade red pepper and eggplant sauce, it was amazing. We then tried the mixed appetizer platter. Everything was amazing on it, there was mozzarella sticks, lamb skewers, arancini balls and the most tender calamari rings we have ever had. The serving was huge, we had to stop and save the rest or we wouldn't have any room for our main course. I had the lamb shank dinner and my wife had the lobster and shrimp ravioli. The lamb was slow cooked to perfection, it just fell apart and was so juicy. My wife isn't a big lamb person and even she loved it. The ravioli was the largest serving of pasta I have ever seen. 4 people could have ate that meal alone. I'm not lying when I say there was at least 40 ravioli on her plate. She had about 5 and was stuffed..lol Chef Tony finished our beautiful meal with his Grandma's amazing mango Gelato. That was absolutely amazing, like you are eating a fresh mango. It was the perfect ended to a huge delicious meal. My got to meet his wonderful wife Nadia when we were leaving. She is just as friendly and genuine as Chef Tony. What a perfect pair. We brought home a ton of leftovers and our kids are loving it too. We will 100% be back, can't wait to try some other dishes...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Taste of Italy That Feels Like Home Stepping into this cozy gem feels less like entering a restaurant and more like being wrapped in the warm embrace of Nonna's kitchen. Tony and Nadia Soranno have cultivated an atmosphere that’s not just welcoming—it’s personal. From the moment you walk in, you can tell they care deeply about every guest and every bite that leaves the kitchen. The food? Fantastico. Fresh, homemade, and served in portions so generous they could feed a small famiglia. One dish of pasta conservatively satisfies two (sometimes three!)—making this not only a top-tier culinary experience but a wallet-friendly one, too. The menu reads like a love letter to Italian comfort food. Whether you're a dedicated carnivore, a plant-based foodie, or somewhere in between, there's a hearty, heartwarming dish with your name on it. The appetizers invite you in, but it’s the desserts that refuse to let you leave—genuine gelato, lovingly crafted cannoli, and sweet treats to either reset your palate or indulge it completely. While the space itself is on the smaller side, it only adds to the homestyle charm. Tables seem made for lingering conversations, laughter, and full bellies. You’ll hear other diners chatting like old friends—some may be strangers when they arrive, but leave feeling like family. This place isn’t just a meal—it’s a memory. A 15 out of 10 experience. If you find yourself anywhere near the Port Credit area and crave a soulful, satisfying Italian meal, do yourself a favor: make a reservation. Then clear your evening. You’re going to want to savor...
