I recently started to go to Starbucks, and in the last two months I’ve been three times. And all three encounters resemble what happened to me on December 8. The previous encounters the staff insisted that they don’t sell decaf coffee, or were extremely reluctant to brew decaf coffee, we’re very insistent that I do it their way, and have a cup of decaf espresso making it easier for them.
On December 8, I very clearly specified what I wanted, which was a tall decaf coffee with one pump of peppermint and two pumps of mocha made with almond milk. So basically, the mocha peppermint Christmas holiday drink, but made with decaf coffee and almond milk instead. Again the cashier was surprised and stated that they don’t have decaf and I was like yes you do, you just have to brew it. They told me that it would be at least five minutes to brew and I said yep that’s okay. I was standing on the side and noticed after 5 minutes had gone by they still hadn’t even started to brew my beverage. The Starbucks was not busy at the time they had four cars in the drive-through and one person waiting in the store and had six people working. After 15 minutes of waiting, I go speak to the barista and asked how much longer and they said that the cuff was only 60-65% full. I said to them that was fine just put the milk in it and I’ll be on my way. When they added the milk, the beverage that they handed me wasn’t even warm it was barely room temperature. It was so cold. I spoke to them and said, did you not steam the milk? Their response was no. And then I spoke to someone who I am assuming was the manager. She stated that it’s not in their practice to warm the milk. (since when is it practised who serve someone a cold cup of coffee) I was like every other time I’ve come here they’ve steamed the milk. Every other Starbucks I’ve ever gone to and order this beverage. They’ve steamed the milk without even me mentioning it. she then proceeds to state that if I wanted it that way that I should’ve just ordered a decaf espresso as it’s the same thing. I corrected her and said no it’s not the same. That a cup of decaf coffee that I ordered will only contain 2-5mg of caffeine compared to the 13.4mg of caffeine that is in a decaf espresso of the same size. The manager had a great deal of attitude but to her credit she did offer me a refund.
Each and every encounter showed me and including the manager in this previous encounter, all trying to greatly insist that I do it their way versus what I wish to have, which is a decaf coffee. Very insistent that it’s the same being told that it’s the same when I am very well know that it’s not. I’ve also done research on this matter but I also have a medical condition where it doesn’t really allow for me to drink coffee or consume caffeine. It’s a very rare instance where I do and it’s only ever when a doctor says that I can. I went 13 years without consuming coffee and finally when the doctor has given me a degree of wiggle room to consume it, I chose to go to Starbucks, which is probably the mistake number one on my part. But my family loves it and they always insist that the beverages there are better. But for the amount of money that you pay for these drinks with a cost 2 to 3 times more than Tim Hortons. You would think that the service would be better. But the audacity the staff to insist that I do it their way, which is to use the decaf espresso because it would make their...
Read moreStarbucks Everyone knows about it. This is the same as all other outlets of Starbucks. This place is within walking distance from my home and I enjoy walking and having a cup of coffee. As I am a vegetarian, I can only order drinks, almost all their products that are available contain egg. So, I would like to highlight this point to everyone who is a vegetarian and want to eat something at any Starbuck, kindly ask them first. As far as my experience goes, they contain eggs. This location is right on the intersection of Eglington and HurOntario. Ample parking is available and they also have a drive-through, you can also order by phone and pick up the order via a drive-through, no hassle. During summer at this location, they have outdoor seating as well. As the weather is good a lot of people enjoy coffee chit-chat seated outside under umbrellas. Because of the location and view outdoors this place is unique. The rest of the details and stuff remains the same. Staff is friendly and courteous, know the menu well and server you without any delay. I have also noticed that sipper and other cups that they are selling are actually very expensive. If you compare them to any other store or marketplace. Still...
Read moreNever had an issue with any Starbucks or with this location until now. I've been a member with Starbucks for about 10 years. Itold them that today is my birthday & I'd like a free drink. I showed them proof that it was my Birthday today. They asked me are if I am a member for the past few years, I said yes. Then they asked if I had purchased anything from the within the past few days or weeks, I said yes & showed them my purchase history on the app. Finally, they asked if I had received an Email confirmation that it was my birthday. Are u kidding me? I have never received any Email confirmation or whatever type of Email from Starbucks saying I have their permission to get a free Birthday item...unbelievable. The woman with pink hair & the woman with short hair are not compassionate nor nice. Let alone not understanding. They said i had to call customer service over this stuff...well, doesn't matter now cuz I'm fed up of how everything only gets worse at Starbucks. Basically, all i got was a Happy birthday but we don't care despite me showing them proof & answering their silly question. Worst location & service I've ever experienced at...
