I have never given a restaurant a bad review , no matter how bad the service was as long as they’ve tried their best to resolve the issue. However, that was not the case today. I scheduled an order at 5:30pm on skipthedishes to be picked up by 7:30pm. I went in at 7:30pm, showed one of the employee the order number and confirmation, he simply told me to wait a bit. I waited for about 10 minutes and went to kindly ask to check if my order was ready or not, they told me they ran out of chicken , and to wait another 10 minutes, I waited again. When I saw everyone that ordered on skipthedishes gotten their order, I asked again. The employee said, they couldn’t find my order , or my name, although I provided them with the order number, confirmation email , plus payment information. They didn’t even tried helping me to resolve the issue, but simply told me to call skipthedishes MYSELF to resolve the problem. They literally threw their responsibility to me and didn’t even try calling or contacting skipthedishes , but rather for me to call myself. This is ridiculous, they literally had me waited for 30 minutes just to say they didn’t get my order in the system. I held my composure, didn’t want to make a scene at the already busy restaurant. But I hope the management can educate their employees when it comes to resolving problems, instead of just letting the customer resolve...
Read moreI think this place could be great, but unfortunately it has been very inconsistent. I've now visited this location 7 times. Half the time it was good, the other half there have been problems, and I believe it is due to one employee. I have not mentioned it to the staff, because I know it's not intentional. I would recommend watching them make your order.
Twice, they have made mistakes with the toppings. Once they lost my order altogether. This was during a lunch rush, and they did make me a new one. However, by then I'd waited 40min and my break was over so I did not get a chance to eat it.
Most recently, my shawerma sandwich was on the grill and the employee didn't have a tool to remove it. By the time she got a spatula, the sandwich was burnt and stuck to the grill. She scraped it off, ripping it, and packaged it up. This made for a very messy sandwich as it was falling apart. I also had to remove the burnt bread.
I've noticed the other employees trying to help and cover for the problematic one, catching her mistakes and stepping in when necessary.
Aside from that: The flavours are nice, the ingredients seem fresh, and the restaurant looks clean. The packaging is cool too! I do wish they would use the same saj bread for the small shawerma sandwiches as they do with the...
Read moreVisited Tahini’s for the first time and I had mixed feelings. The ambiance stood out right away, it’s modern, fresh, and gives off a Mediterranean vibe that makes you want to sit down and enjoy your meal.
I ordered their two signature shawarmas: the Korean BBQ and the Tandoori Chicken. One thing that caught me off guard is that these “signature” wraps come with pre-set toppings and can’t be customized. If you want to add anything extra, it costs more, which was a bit disappointing from the start.
The Tandoori Chicken shawarma looked great and tasted just as good. The flavours came together nicely, but the Saj wrap itself was chewy and took away from the overall experience. The Korean BBQ was visually appealing, glazed with BBQ sauce and layered with tahini and habanero. At first bite, I noticed an unusual smell from the chicken which didn’t sit right with me, though the strong sauces masked it enough that the flavour came through bold and spicy.
The problem was what came after. About an hour later, both my wife and I felt very uncomfortable stomach bloating, excessive gas, and it lingered well into the night. It’s not the kind of aftermath you expect after a meal, and it really overshadowed any positives.
Based on this experience, I can’t say I’d be going back...
