We had an unfortunate experience here that pertains to management, mostly, but other people looking to dine here should be aware.
We reserved two tables for a large party and we were happy to split up to get some food after a long trip from NYC to tremblant. We were able to make the reservations on open table and we drove a half an hour to get there only to find out that they didn’t have the open table reservations in their system. We booked them on separate open table accounts.
I understand that a one off technical issue could be out of the hands of the establishment. This is not what is driving this one star review. Strike two was that they didn’t receive the other reservation either, and could not have cared at all that their system was somehow not communicating with a major reservation app that guests and travelers alike rely on. I should mention I use open table often and I have never experienced this.
The manager could not have been more UNapologetic and rude. She was smirking through the discussion and was incredibly unprofessional. Offered no solution, no other suggestions for out of town guests. It was a huge let down and it was quite embarrassing to be treated this way. The restaurant was basically empty. And this was backed up with how many tables were still visibly empty and were still available on open table. Even their system showed very few reservations for the remainder of the night. Former waitress, here.
Facetiously, a guest in our party called when we got downstairs to make a reservation for a comparable party size and they said they can accommodate immediately.
Maybe she didn’t want to help a party of our size, but we didn’t mind being broken into two tables - that’s why we made two reservations in the first place.
Whatever the case, your time is not valued here. Save yourself the effort and check out La Maison du Spaghetti - they graciously accommodated us and saved the night for our ravenous...
Read moreThe food and dining room were great. This is more of a high end french cuisine than italian restaurant and all of the item we ordered were delicious and impeccably plated.
Everything we ordered was perfect on taste and presentation alike. Every item could compete with any of the best tables in the Montreal area, not a small feat. I loved some of the more creative ideas and flavour mixing while the more conservative aspect were very well executed. No obvious complain on the food level, very impressive work.
The main issue I have is the service that was not on par with the quality of the food. The waiter was not able to describe the choices in detail and had obvious lack of knowledge of the menu. She was very nice but you would expect a more professional waiting staff from a restaurant of this quality. Multiple mistake were made on orders and she forgot some of the item we asked for so we needed to ask multiple time. But again all the staff was very polite, joyfull and dealing with the COVID reality. I think a bit of training and coaching could easily fix those issues which are often overlooked by owners.
The name and "authentic italian food" label does not seem to reflect the nature of the experience. The writen menu itself is very shy on explanation and does not sell the experience right, being red and plasticky such as what you would expect from a lower range restaurant.
Overall a lot of potential if they are able to tune those little details. The food has heart and they sure have a spectacular location with a view.
The prices were also very modest for the amount and quality of the meal you will receive. The highest priced item in the 4 course meal was the spectacular filet mignon for 55$ if I remember correctly.
With the right staff management and image correction, the have the engine to be one of the best table in the very prestigious...
Read moreA little hidden gem in the old village of Mont Tremblant. My wife and I recently had dinner in IL Pinnacolo and were treated to a wonderful evening. We got to the restaurant and were met by Chef Jamie, who informed us that she would not only be the Chef but our server for the evening. I guess the waitress that had been hired that week didn't show up and of course didn't bother to let the restaurant know (what's with employees any more .. if you don't want the job, don't accept it and leave a business scrambling to cover .. I don't get it). Anyway .... we both had the bruschetta as an appetizer the Veal Marsala as the main course. Both were excellent ... and the bill was very reasonable. We would highly recommend this restaurant on your next stay in Tremblant you wont be disappointed. Oh and the view from the restaurant is amazing, try to get their for sunset you won't regret doing that. Chef Jamie well done, we will be back on our next visit...
