I read the good reviews and was excited to try this place. Few annoying things happened during my visit though. I ordered weekend chowder with a roll. The server came with butter for the roll but it was so hard that it wasn't spreadable. Told the server and she just said yes, it just came from fridge. We asked her if she could heat it up a bit so we could at least use it. She brought it back but still wasn't spreadable 😕 I used the debit terminal, the server was busy so even after it was approved I was left holding it because there is so much stuff on the counter that there was no place to set it down. Yes that sounds picky but little things like that are annoying and add to the experience. The roll was just ok. There is one washroom for everyone Man, Woman or other which is nice to see but one washroom for all guests meant we had to wait a bit to use it. There is no wall soap dispenser, but instead a bottle with a pump, the pump sprays out well past the sink and onto my clothing and floor. Sorry just these little things were annoying. So not all bad experience though the chowder was good but small portion, the atmosphere was really nice, server was nice and prices are reasonable. Ì will be back to give it another chance in a few weeks as they are new business and I'm sure will take a little bit to iron out the kinks. Edit*After response from owner willing to address issues I re read my review. I apologize and think maybe I was already having a bad day so little annoying things seemed worse than they really were. An attentive owner who listens to suggestions is worth 2 more stars so I am...
Read moreThis coffeshop hit all the marks and is 1000% worth a visit. The food and beverages are delicious. The service is excellent. Location is idyllic. And the patio is shaded, comfy, and dog friendly. AND : they serve vegan and gluten free food! Also it is definitely an LGBTQ+ safe environment. AND they sell vinyls! This place is way too cool.
I spent the day there to work remotely and stayed on the patio alone with my dog. I ate breakfast and lunch. Had the avocado toast (yuuuum), kale smoothie (also yum), and a brownie (dayum!). I tried the veggie sandwich for lunch with an iced strawberry tea. All the food tasted fresh and was carefully prepared, as well as the beverages. The only "negative" aspect was that the gluten free bread in the sandwich was falling appart and made the meal a bit too dry, but that's fair for gluten free bread. I believe toasting the bread could make it hold together better. I just added some of the dressing from the side salad in the sandwich and it balanced the dryness and made the bread hold together a bit more. Everything was delicious and homemade, and fresh 🤤.
Highly recommend!
Dog friendly, BIPOC friendly, LGBTQ+ friendly, neutral bathrooms, tasty food, coeliac friendly, fat friendly (no armrest on chairs inside). Come encourage this local business, it must prevail 🤩.
P.s. ridiculously fast Wi-Fi P.s.2. I could easily park in the back with my car and small...
Read moreOverall we had a very pleasant experience at The Lucky Bean and would recommend it if you are looking for a trendy coffee shop on the east end of PEI.
The following is the breakdown of my scale for rating restaurants.
Customer Service 5/5 - staff were extremely friendly during our time there
Presentation 4/5 The iced Coffee, Smoothie and Avocado Toast looked amazing from when they walked around the corner the sandwich was nothing special
Value 1/5 coffee is the only good value item we had. Everything else did seem expensive for what it was.
Taste 3/5 Breakfast Sammy was bland and ham seemed like it came from the deli isle at the grocery store. Avocado on toast was creamy with a bit of lemon, my wife highly recommends their ice coffee and the berry punch smoothie was delicious, but a bit overpriced in my opinion
Cleanliness/ Facilities / Decor 5/5 The restaurant was very clean with a nice decor
Overall "The Lucky Bean" earns a 18/25 on our...
