On our endless search for the finest matcha, we took a delightful chance on a mysterious, intimate tea room. They quickly exceeded our expectations, showcasing an impressive selection of organic matcha and a variety of enchanting Japanese and Taiwanese teas. What makes this tea room unique is its dedication to matcha drinks—not the traditional lattes you often come across, but rather thoughtfully crafted beverages that celebrate the rich flavors and qualities of matcha in their purest forms. We were particularly taken with the presentation; our drinks were served in sleek glass bottles to go. We decided to try the Ironmatcha, infused with the warming essence of cardamom, which created a bold yet comforting flavor profile. The Jasminematcha was equally captivating, as fragrant as it was delicious, highlighting the delicate notes of jasmine. We were pleasantly surprised by the pumpkin seed milk, which was just incredible. Its earthy, nutty flavor paired harmoniously with our matcha selections. Additionally, the tea room featured a charming boutique with an array of tea-related items, from exquisite tea sets to premium matcha tools, allowing visitors to take a piece of their experience home. Interestingly, this place doesn’t seem to engage with social media, as we discovered a humorous sign stating "no TikToks" inside! It only added to the authenticity and allure. It’s clear that the focus here is on creating a genuine and intimate experience rather than cheap marketing. Our visit was a delightful adventure, and we couldn't resist sharing the wonderful experience we had. This tea room is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates the artistry of matcha and the tranquility of a serene tea experience. 🎋🍵✨

What a gem! I just wanted a matcha latte and instead I got a tea tasting curated by the owner! @ Matcha is about as genuine and respectable as a small business can get. You can tell the owner truly has a passion for tea that he wants to share with everybody that comes in. Instead of that latte what I got was one of his bespoke matcha creations. They're all made fresh by him with things like homemade pumpkin seed milk, black sesame seeds, and bitter almond. We tasted all 6 he had available that day and each one was beautiful and unique. We ended up settling on the matcharetto: a matcha drink made with bitter almonds that tasted like amaretto or marzipan. It was creamy but also light and refreshing. Everything had that quality of tasting rich and decadent while at the same time feeling light and healthy. These are masterfully crafted beverages! The matcha concoctions come in either liter or half liter bottles that are returnable for a $2 deposit. We also bought some loose leaf tea to take home which was a custom blend that he had prepared cold brew style that was bright and extremely refreshing. I couldn't have been more delighted to have happened upon this place. Go visit at @ Matcha and experience the joy of tea that is at the center of this experience!

My boyfriend and I were here in Montreal for a dragon boat race two weeks ago. I found this place from a recommendation and was determined to try out the matcha drinks! We got the iron matcha and hojicha choco and they both did not disappoint the slightest bit. The decorations were lovely and cozy (he also has beautiful paintings). Nestor was so kind and nice and friendly and you could tell how passionate he was in curating the best and most healthy drinks for his customers, getting the best ingredients from all over the world. During our chit chat he even offered some delightful snacks (best date with cashew ive ever had!!) and mini drinks of cermonial matcha and jasmine tea (also the most fragrant and delicious jasmine tea ive had). It was a great experience and we promise to come back if we ever visited Montreal again. Or let us know if you ever open a place in Vancouver haha!

A true skeptic, I really thought I would be the first person to not rate this place with 5 stars.

I really went in thinking wow there’s no way a place could be a perfect 5, not a single less-than-stellar review.

I really was wrong!

We walked in and Nestor asked us if it was our first time. Yes. Then he deftly puts two small aluminum cups on the counter and retrieves from a small refrigerator a bottle of liquid. A potion, if you will. And he has us sample it. And then he does this again, and again, over and over, each time explaining what goes into the drink. Then we choose one for each of us, take off our shoes, and head to the zen table, where we proceed to drink from our potions while reading from our books.

It’s worth noting that the zen atmosphere of the place isn’t static. When we’d just entered, two people were leaving who had a much more lively energy about them. It seemed that the space we were walking into was one that encouraged every individual person’s vibe to just flow and mix. Later, another person walked in and brought more of a studious, focused vibe with them. For our part we were just there to relax.

It really was an amazing, relaxing experience. We’d planned to come back before our stay in Montréal was over, though we ran out of time. Still, if ever I’m in town again, I will be...
