Vortex Montréal - Plateau - Escape Room — Attraction in Montreal

AVOID!!!

We recently played in one of their escape rooms "Tempus Evadere", and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. While I understand not being provided with a walkie-talkie, I was concerned that the host did not help manage the game flow smoothly, we ended up stuck on the same puzzle for about 30 minutes, which resulted in a lot of wasted of time because we did not receive timely assistance.

Additionally, the instructions given before the game were confusing. We were told not to use force in case anything breaks, or no need to look above our eye-level to find clues, yet several puzzles required both actions. This making us hesitant and unsure of how to proceed. For example, in order to open the door for next room, it actually requires the player to pull the rope quite hard, the single rope looks very fragile so we pulled with small force and then stopped there. Since we are keeping in mind all the warnings we got before starting the game, this made us confused and made us hesitant because we were afraid of breaking something. And this made us missed the next room completely.

First escape room and it was so disappointing. It feels unhygienic, everything is kinda sticky, the puzzles aren't really challenging, and the rooms were unbearably hot. It's extremely unpleasant, physically.

The employee over explained everything before, AND also after, ruining what could've been a great moment of talking about our experiences together after. His tone was infantilisant

The ONE thing I asked is that he does not scare the one kid that was in our group and he did precisely exactly that, one second after. She was terrified and it ruined everyone's moment. I felt bad for not being clear enough, and her dad felt bad for bringing her into this. We got rushed out with clues right when we were about to finish, but for what ? My teenage daughter and I loved our escape room VR experience at Vortex! We chose the Sanctum storyline, which was an awesome haunted-house like thriller for people who like thrills and chills with skeletons and blood, perfect for Halloween time. It was our first ever VR experience and we didn't regret it! The storyline line is interesting and the visual effects are great. There's a bit of a learning curve at the beginning if you haven't done many escape rooms or video games, but my daughter has a lot of video game experience and we worked as a team and even got a time bonus at some point because we were doing so well.
