I'm just so happy someone has decided to reopen that place. Before the pandemic this was one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal, it had a European brasserie vibe with a Montreal touch.
This was my second visit since it reopened (with the previous place I would come once or twice per month).
As of today it's a bar with a bit (of good) food to snack on. They have changed the old tables and chairs with modern black high tables and stools. The rest is the exact same and it's fantastic they have kept all of that.
This said I liked more the old tables and chairs, the new ones don't fit as well with the place and are less comfortable .
The cocktails are very good, but a bit on the pricey side.
The food is very good too, the devil eggs are delicious!
And the service is also very good, welcoming and smiling.
All in all a great experience, I will definitely go again and recommend it but I wish they would evolve into a restaurant and similar to what it was before.
You don't need to reinvent the wheel, or try to be too fancy and modern, you would be great as a tavern with simple but affordable good food...

Despite that, the hostess took us to the far end of the bar, right next to the kitchen entrance, where it already smelled like fish. On the way there, we passed several available tables for two and four, and many guests were sitting in pairs at four-person tables with no issue.
We politely asked if we could move to one of the free tables, pointing out that others were sitting at larger tables too. The hostess insisted those tables were being held for larger groups. After a short back and forth, she finally agreed to seat us at a four-top (which wasn’t even cleaned yet), cleaned it up, but warned us that if a party of four arrived, we’d have to move. The two-person table we were not offered remained empty.
This kind of treatment left a bad impression. The way the hostess handled it made us feel unwelcome, even though the place was far from full.
On the bright side, the cocktails were okay and the waitstaff were friendly and polite. But honestly, we don’t feel like...

Come for the drinks: a full stock bar where each cocktail comes in the right glass and with the right ice. Pick from the diversified options on the menu but don't be shy to ask for something custom: the bar is fully stocked with a variety of options and the barkeeps knowledgable and skilled.
The food is equally good (fries that will make you wish they had a poutine) but somewhat old fashioned in it's menu (which is the point). You won't go wrong with the mussels or the pulled pork sandwich, but if you're on the picky side I'd visit fist for drinks before committing to a meal there.
Tavern isn't cheap, but is money well spent every time.
Useful: Busy often. You'll seldom have trouble walking in to find a seat at the bar open for you and a guest, but if you'd like a table call in advance. You don't have to call weeks ahead or anything, but better...
