Beaubien Deli — Restaurant in Montreal

This place was great and our table server was a nice warm lady who gave us everything just as ordered and in a timely fashion. I was not super hungry so I only had coffee and a nice cake. If I had known they did all day brekkie I would have saved my appetite as I really like a breakfast or brunch eaten out, it just always feels and tastes so comforting and relaxing. One of our companions did though and it all looked great and smelled divine. I have yet to get fully fluent in French-Québécois so I don’t know about whether they have English speaking staff, all my lunch companions speak Québécois so they all ordered, including for me. It is not common to go somewhere in Montréal where businesses or offices don’t have someone who speaks English I find anyway. Don’t know if they have English as well as Québécois menus as I had already decided to just have a beverage and a snack so I barely got a glance at the one menu passed to one person in our party who had not decided what to order, if I had thought about writing this review I would...

Food was good but the waitress was not very appreciative. she kept telling us how to order for our kids, how to feed them.. because she's a grandmother and knows how to serve kids. like if we didn't know. She then went to complain about the tip we left. We are a family of 5 our bill came to $80, we still gave her a tip, but she took it upon herself to express her discontent to everyone in the restaurant, making us look like horrible people. What (Suzanne) does not understand is that maybe a we took our kids out for a nice meal, with the little money we have, and the tips we offered is what we had.. we tried to please our kids, but the waitress made us feel like we were bad parents. We ate smoked meat sandwiches, poutines, club sandwiches and more. Food was delicious, servers were very sweet and caring and came to check up on us often. We were a pretty large group and they handled it flawlessly.

Currently(July 2021) there is a lot of construction in the area and the street/restaurant is only accessible by foot, but I would suggest checking them out anyway and supporting local businesses such as this one who have been hit hard by covid, but also hit hard by the constant construction in the area.
