Café Bravo — Restaurant in Montreal

Really off vibe in there. I hope it was a one-off, but the feeling was very unwelcoming. I found it odd that they sold only quebecois music, LOTS and LOTS of coeur de pirate specifically. Maybe im missing something and the shop is associated to her? but the appeal was lost. The coffee was not good. The service was really off. We were the only ones in there and trying to be friendly, we were met with a person who really seemed bothered to give us information about what they served, what the options were, felt like we were interrupting her alone time! the space is nice looking , but i don't think id go again.

EDIT based on response from business which is the following in case they delete/ edit once their ego/emotions calm down. " You’re absolutely right! We love Cœur de pirate and québécois music. Maybe do your homework before doing reviews next time."

I am fully bilingual, my mom is 100% french quebecoise. My review was not that i don't like quebecois music, ive actually seen coeur de pirate live. My issue was that the music was lacking variety in both genre and language. Telling that you didn't acknowledge any of the other points ive made. I'll keep my star rating the same, but maybe you should consider your customer service and replies, if we're giving unsolicited advice here :) ! LAME!

Edit after more responses/reviews : Clearly, you're getting owners/chefs/managers of your associate cafe to review your place now that your poor reaction to feedback/criticism has gotten attention e.g Rani, Marc, Alex. ( I do my homework ;) ).

When you say " again", i actually don't think that the concept of your cafe was obvious, nor did you address it in your first comment. maybe focus on educating? rather than shaming. If it wasnt obvious to me, its probably not for other people, and thats a learning lesson. Maybe consider marketing it, and having information about it more accessible and obvious. It's a great mission to bring attention to local artists, but maybe reconsider what kind of attention you're bringing in. That'll be my last update! Hope you learn to take feedback better next...

We visited the very charming @cafebravomtl for a quick afternoon coffee break and entered into a sense of nostalgia. We loved the pleasing, orangey, 70's-like aesthetic and colours complimented by the sale of vinyl records and cassettes from the artists signed to the label of the same name. So, if you like them (we do), this might be a place you'd like.

As for the coffee we had; we are not coffee snobs. We enjoyed it but we regret not trying a cookie or muffin 😅. We also noticed a pretty attractive food menu with some hefty sounding sandwiches we may just have to return to try (and maybe some pickled eggs just because). Finally, The person who served was particularly friendly and helpful, and answered all our silly questions with a bright smile that made us wish more similar establishments had...

Ma sœur dans la foi et moi-même avions développé une tradition de découverte gastronomique, après le service et nos activités de bénévolat, en prenant un copieux repas à un premier endroit suivi d’un café à un deuxième endroit. Aujourd’hui, nous avons compris la beauté d’effectuer le parcours inverse. En effet, j’ai attribué de récents épisodes d’insomnie le dimanche à ma consommation tardive (vers 14 h, 16 h) de café (je n’en consommais que très occasionnellement auparavant) et mon amie, ayant plus d’expérience que moi, s’obligeait à consommer du décaféiné. À 11 heures ? Aucun tracas à se faire. Nous avons donc pu savourer en toute tranquillité d’esprit les délicieuses préparations saisonnières de la maison, le Latte caramel et le Oolong chai latte, avec des rayons qui nous chauffaient le dos au travers de larges vitres.

Lors de mes explorations de lieux de restauration, je pose régulièrement des questions spontanées aux employés amicaux sur le lieu où ils travaillent et sur leur appréciation du temps qu’ils y passent. Cela sert à satisfaire une curiosité intellectuelle et montrer de l’intérêt envers leur occupation. Parfois, des questions simples les amènent à parler de leurs rêves et aspirations. D’autres fois, mes interrogations simples n’entraînent que des réponses simples, mais mes objectifs de communication sont tout de même atteints. À la question de si le choix de la couleur orange comme thème décoratif était porteur d’une signification particulière, on m’a répondu par la négative : « C’est juste une belle couleur ». Je suis d’avis que l’agencement est judicieux. Le café prend des allures très sympathiques et décontractées avec ses vinyles, ses plantes en pot et ses touches « citrouilles » ici et là.

Je n’ai trouvé aucun défaut au café Bravo, ni dans son service ni dans son ambiance propice à l’étude et à la fraternisation, ni dans ses boissons ni dans son délicieux sandwich déjeuner à la Mayo épicée (11 $), alors je ne m’efforcerai pas d’en chercher. Ils ont même l’amabilité d’être transparents avec leurs prix en les affichant taxes incluses. Cet établissement a vraiment tout pour plaire, et j’en garderai un excellent souvenir, d’autant plus que j’y ai eu un très divertissant échange avec ma complice de restos.
