It’s not with a light heart I write this. I bought a box of chocolates from here for valentines and I wasn’t overly impressed. I found the place just by chance one day walking by as it’s truly a beautiful shop with gorgeous éclairs. However, the box of chocolates I ordered wasn’t ideal. First off the box it came in wasn’t great. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy but for the price I was hoping a simple but nice box. The box was a bit flimsy and felt cheap honestly. You can kinda of see the inside walls in the box are a bit crooked and there was markings on the inside of the box. As for the chocolates they’re decent. I was hoping for some truly simple, classic, delicious local chocolates and they were pretty average.
All that being said, I’m very willing to change my mind and give it another chance. The ratings don’t lie and so I’m sure maybe my choice wasn’t the best or they were having an off day.
PS check out the 2nd and 3rd photo is that not one of the most beautiful things you’ve seen.
Response to comment: I’m using Google translate to respond so I hope nothing was lost in translation. First and foremost I have absolute zero intention to harm your reputation, I have never heard of your chocolate shop before Valentine’s Day and i am simply giving my honest thoughts on the product you are selling. My 2 star review is low and I will be honest it was on the border of being a 3 star experience. However, I’d like to respond to your critiques of my review. Firstly, if you actually read my review I name numerous positive aspects to my experience but as a whole I was not happy with my experience. Secondly, you say your boxes are high quality and built to protect the chocolates. They do protect the chocolates however they (in my opinion) not high quality and the box i received was flimsy and also dirty. Thirdly, you say that your chocolates are recognized for exceptional quality, ingredients, and a wide variety of flavours. I honestly don’t doubt this but I think you’re clearly forgetting the purpose of a review which is to review MY experience and MY opinion. You are correct in saying I chose the chocolates; I did but that doesn’t mean I’m forced to enjoy the chocolates I chose.
I find it very concerning that you immediately think my suboptimal review is malicious in nature, it is not at all. I give plenty of 4 and 5 stars to quality restaurants. Your chocolates were expensive, had a sub par packaging, and average flavour. This is all my opinion, that being said I hope you take this as constructive feedback and I’d happily give your chocolates another go. Please remember what my review is meant to be and maybe I’ll see you guys next...
Read moreWe were wandering through the area when we saw a crowd of cyclists coming down the street, likely just finishing the Grand Prix cycling event. As we continued walking, we noticed a small pastry shop--unassuming from the outside, but spotless and inviting. As soon as we walked in, I was pleasantly surprised with a display case that was both elegant and artfully arranged. Hello, eye candy! The selection was focused in just two types of pastries--éclairs and financiers. Each looked tempting, so we picked one of each: the passion fruit éclair and the lavender financier, both priced at $7 each The descriptions were written in French, but the lady at the counter, who also spoke English, kindly walked us through the flavors and details. They also sell chocolate and truffles on the other display plus some drinks. Everything was hand-made in the kitchen on-site.
The pastries did not disappoint. The éclair was filled with a smooth, tangy passion fruit cream that struck the perfect balance--bright without being too sweet. The lavender financier carried just the right hint of floral, subtle yet memorable. Both were moist, refined, and thoughtfully made with quality ingredients! It was a lovely surprise to stumble upon such a gem, and we'll certainly be back to explore more of...
Read moreMont Eclair is a small gem tucked along Mont-Royal Avenue, a lively pedestrian street filled with cafés, bakeries, and restaurants. From the outside, the shop is easy to miss, but step inside and you’ll find a beautifully designed space with pastries that look just as elegant as the setting.
Their flagship item is the éclair, though they also offer chocolate bars, tarts, and other finely crafted pastries. The young woman working during my visit was warm and welcoming—she spoke both English and French, which made ordering easy—and she happily answered our questions about ingredients and flavors. I chose a lavender tart, which was as delicious as it was striking in presentation—perfectly balanced in sweetness with a wonderful texture.
Most pastries, including éclairs, are around $7 CAD each. While slightly on the higher end, the quality and artistry more than justify the price. A few small tables inside make it easy to sit and enjoy your pastry on the spot.
If you’re exploring Mont-Royal Avenue and craving something refined and memorable, Mont Eclair is well...
