Welcome to the neighborhood! These guys are off to a fantastic start. They did their market research and realized that while the immediate area is full of amazing old-school Italian cafes, there are only two good Third Wave coffee spots within a 2km radius.
Café Caron & frères understands that it is quality, above all, that makes a great cafe. Our first impression with 5-stars - an excellent Third Wave cappuccino.
Their menu has more than one would expect. The food selections look great and we’ll be back regularly to try them.
Look for ongoing excellent creativity in what we hope with be a neighborhood mainstay.
EDITED 23 April 2023:
So I am fièrement un Caroniste! ᕙ(`▿´)ᕗ
This is the best café in Montreal. Period.
I am here every day - the most regular of the regulars. I have been at some of the best cafes in the world with over 3 million miles of travel. I put Café Caron & frères firmly in this group.
Simon, Xavier, and the entire team are very passionate about everything they do and this begins with a curated coffee experience. To sit at Caron and have a coffee is the best coffee experience in Montreal. The coffee is always prepared with care, they bring in beans from the best roasters in Montreal, the province, and the world.
The food is superb. My preference is their vege-pate sandwich. For a city with a lot of great vege-pate (it’s kind of a thing here) Caron’s sandwich is salty, savory, and utterly delicious.
To sit inside, out front on the bench, or in the side yard on the picnic tables is always very accommodating. No matter how busy the Caron brothers are in this very popular spot, you will always be made to feel at home here.
In my original review, I hoped that they would aspire to be part of our Little Italy community; in fact, they have emerged as leaders, always looking to make people happy.

Read moreA hidden gem in the heart of Little Italy. I tried the breakfast sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious. The sriracha sauce added a nice kick, balanced perfectly by the fresh tomato. The bun was soft yet held everything together beautifully.
I paired it with a soy milk cappuccino, and it didn’t disappoint. The coffee was smooth, and I appreciated the variety of beans they offer. Ended up refilling my stash at home with Zap and Pilot coffee beans—they know their coffee game here.
The space is simple yet thoughtfully designed, with little details like a big fig plant, a sleek quartz (or granite?) counter, and a great selection of pastries and snacks. I even loved the imperfect charm of the floors—it all felt warm and authentic.
It’s on the smaller side, and it does get busy, but if you find a quiet moment, it’s the perfect spot to work or journal. Definitely a place I’ll return to.

Read moreCame here on a whim, not expecting much and I was pleasantly humbled. The space is small, warm, and inviting, made even better by the barista's glowing smile and warm welcome to everyone who came in. There were 2 beans on espresso to serve: a classic dark roast by Hatch and a fruity light roast by Traffic. I asked for a shot of espresso on ice by Traffic and the barista was happy to serve what they called their current favorite, which made me smile. They asked me how much ice I wanted and pulled a great shot: bringing out the fruitiness and sweet acidity of Traffic's coffee, bravo. I really appreciated the barista's care and the café's choice of various local and non-local roasters. I will be back...
