We stopped in for an early breakfast. The Benedicts were pretty good—though I wasn’t sure if the cheese used was Kraft singles. Service during the meal was honestly great. Our server was kind, attentive, and overall really lovely.
The issue came at the very end. Their payment machine didn’t show tip percentages, so I just entered an amount manually. I didn’t see the full bill at the time, but later realized it was around $40. I always tip 15–18%, and after getting to the car and doing the math (including both taxes), I saw that what I left was actually a fair tip.
But as we were leaving, I was chased down and asked why I “tipped so low” and if the service was bad. I was caught off guard, especially because I genuinely thought she did a great job. If I’d had cash on me, I probably would’ve even added another $5. It wasn’t about the tip—it was the way she handled it that felt totally unprofessional and has never happened to me in my life.
There was a whole discussion recently in the Spotted LaSalle Facebook group, where a lot of seniors were openly saying they don’t tip at all. I can only imagine how this would’ve gone if someone like that had come in. Would she have chased them out too, asking what she did wrong? ( I think tipping is super important)
It’s a shame, because I would’ve gladly returned. But after being made to feel guilty over something that didn’t even warrant it, I don’t...

Read moreI've been looking for a place to replace Cora. I had spotted this place a while back, but convincing my fiancee to let go of Corazilla was not easy. I first when with my best friend for brunch during the holidays. Very comfortable and friendly atmosphere. The tables have space between them to walk between them without sticking your butt into people's food. The portions are not oversized, just the right portions - which can seem a bit small when you are used to the leisurely extravagance of corporate places. The fruits were fresh, the bread was good, and the potatoes were crisp. Creton and real mapple syrups are included in the price.
The second time, I took my fiancee after praising the place. She took a breakfast and loved it. I've tried one of their lunches - the fish and chips. Served with golden scrips oven fries and a salad, the plate was very good and plentiful!!
I definitely recommend if you want a quieter place to brunch with your friends...
