I want to start off by saying this was my favourite cafe in NDG, the staff are great, the coffee + pastries are delicious and the cafe is beautiful. Me and my friend came in and got 2 lattes and 2 pistachio croissants, and sat in the cafe at one of the upstairs benches for approx. one hour until the cafe started to get busier. A man who I am assuming is the manager approached us and told us to move over to make room for new customers that were coming into the cafe. I think it is reasonable to ask customers politely to make room for new clients, especially in a cafe with limited seating, but the way the manager asked us to move (making a shooing motion with his hands, no please, no thank you) I took to be incredibly rude and me and my friend decided to leave the cafe. We did not say anything to the customers, the staff, or the manager when leaving. The manager proceeded to follow us outside the cafe and harass us, asking me quote "Why are you making that face", and proceeded to instigate an argument. This was an interaction that was unprovoked, unprofessional, and honestly made me incredibly uncomfortable. Following customers out of the cafe to instigate an argument is something I have never seen in my 2 years of coming to this cafe weekly, and six years of working in a cafe setting. Very disappointing as I love this spot, but I will not be coming back as I feel very uncomfortable due to aggressive management and I am advising my friends + community to...
Read moreThis property definitely deserves to call itself an espresso bar because the coffee quality is excellent. I had a delicious biscuit-like cookie which was a perfect pair for my very well prepared triple espresso Americano. I also ordered a panini to take out.
This is a great place for those looking for an alternative to the coffee franchise experience. I was there in the early morning looking for a place to work before the public libraries opened.
It's got a neighborhood feel as there was a steady stream of locals coming in and chatting amiably with the staff as they waited for their order. I actually got involved in a rather enjoyable and unexpected short discussion with staff and another customer about the meaning of umami. 🙂
The regulars seemed concerned about how the road construction would affect the viability of this and other businesses on this stretch of Queen Mary Road.. This property deserves to be supported in any way to get past that possible disruption.
One thing I would recommend is to have more plugs to power devices. I don't think customers will abuse that privilege and linger overly long. I was personally aware not...
Read moreMUST TRY their Pumpkin Spice Latte this season 🎃 Their syrup imported from France gives such a richness and warmth to the drink, I look forward to it in the mornings! I wasnt always fond of PSL and found them overrated, too strong and right on the nose, or too sweet... but this one hits just right. I have my lattes and cappuccinos with Oatmilk and sometimes a double shot of espresso for a deeper coffee taste. They have their own bean roasts they make in Terebonne, which you may purchase in store at a much more affordable price point than other local brands you find in town (microtorrefacteurs). Again they're an ITALIAN Espresso Bar, so they really get their espressos right 🤌🤌🤌
Weekday mornings, Myriam greets the increasing number of loyal customers always with a warm smile, and the best positive zen vibes. It's not only the coffee that starts my day just right, but getting to chat...
