When we got inside, there were several open tables, but we were told the only available space was at the bar. That was fine—the seating was actually relatively comfortable for a bar. We were placed right next to the pass, facing the kitchen and cooks. I get that it’s part of the vibe, but I personally didn’t enjoy it much.
Service was average, nothing special. What really disappointed me was the lack of attentiveness. We were sitting right next to the pass, with staff constantly walking by us, but my glass was basically empty the whole time. They filled it only twice, and at one point I was dying of thirst. The glasses were tiny, so I wish they were just a bit more on top of it.
On the bright side, the food came super quickly, which I was thrilled about since I was starving. There were so many things to choose from, it was honestly hard to pick, but I was really happy with my final choice.
Minus points: No regular coffee! Also, the drink menu (excluding alcohol) was pretty limited, which was a letdown.
Now for the food:
Fuego Chicken Sandwich – Not a fan. “Fuego” is an understatement my tongue was on fire. The coleslaw didn’t taste like coleslaw to me. The chicken itself was decent, but nothing special. Overall, it felt just average. 3.65/5 Fries – Surprisingly good! I don’t usually love skinny fries, but these were salty and tasty. 4/5 MTL Cheesesteak – Amazing. Honestly, 4.9/5. The meat was perfect and exactly what I’ve been looking for in a steak sandwich. The only thing I’d add is a pickle or mushroom, just something fresh or veggie to balance it out, but that’s just my personal taste. This sandwich was a win.
The mayo was cream cheese mayo, I thought that was a crime of a combo and the flavor in my mouth was just wrong. Never again. It came with the fries. Also, on the cheesesteak, they put peppercorns not dried which I wasn’t a fan of.
Atmosphere: Very sleek and modern. Not the warmest or coziest vibe, but definitely aesthetic and super...
Read moreEVA's best feature is no doubt the design of the space. It is unique with it's rounded columns, modern-industrial grey tones and intricate art pieces that adorn the restaurant. The service here was friendly and cheerful. My server didn't really interact with me after I was served, but I was sitting by the bar and the girl who was working there happily engaged me in conversation, which is always appreciated when I'm dining solo. I went for the skytower plate, which I have mixed feelings on. The feature of the dish, the mini pancakes, were superb. I was unsure about the savory butter they were using as pancakes are sweet, however it worked very well. The texture of the pancakes was immaculate. 1-2 more could have been added to really justify the dish's name however. The other parts of the plate were pretty standard. The one part that did disappoint me is that I like my eggs poached and they told me they don't do poached eggs. This is the first time I've heard this at a brunch restaurant, and for how well this place presents itself I was surprised at the limitation. I have to say that the quality of the dish did not justify the price at all. They need to have at least one more item on this plate. I did not have a beverage, just this place and my bill was around $35. The portion-to-price ratio here is a weak point- brunch is meant to be filling, especially a...
