We've been coming here for a few years now, it's among the better Portuguese chicken joints around. The menu offers other, traditional choices but the treat here is the grilled chicken. You can spice to taste - we get extra hot and love it. The mild, regular serving seems very bland, at least to my palette.
They offer delivery - but only sporadically. If you do manage to get it, you're going to wait an hour+ even if you're in the neighborhood.
The interior is cozy enough with ample seating on large tables. Even though it's a big space, I've only ever seen one server to run all the tables. Service can be slow.
All in all a very good meal of you're not rushed. The big downside is that prices have nearly doubled in the last 3-4 years. As an example, their popular family special (1.5 chicken, salad and fries) used to run roughly $35, it's now pushing $60. Dining in is always pricier for larger groups, they gouge you with drinks. Still, it's worth the wait but the prices are getting tough to justify. There seems to be a lot of turnover so maybe it's mismanaged. A shame because the food has been consistently good.
Still, if you're looking for very good Portuguese chicken, don't mind the wait and higher prices, this is your spot. There are other options in the city but for the area, it's as...
Read moreI actually have been to this restaurant many times. I love the food and the family ambiance. I have even referred many people there. Today though I am sad to say I caught the cook putting her fingers in my food and then in her mouth. If that wasn't enough she then proceeded to put the same finger back in my food and yep once again in her mouth. When I confronted her she denied the whole thing of course but after signaling to the waiter that the cameras should be checker she then said she had to taste the sauce !!!!!!!! I cancelled my order and walked out. Very disappointing because to be honest the food is good, in my book though this act is unacceptable and the fact that she seemed so nonchalant means that this is normal to her. So all this to say if you don't want saliva in your...
Read moreWe were craving Portuguese chicken this weekend and even though we don't live nearby, I decided to go there instead our local Portuguese restaurant (which is just a 5 min drive instead of the 20 something to Imperio). OMG was it worth it! The chicken was sooo good that even at this moment while I'm typing this my mouth is watering just to think about it. Is THE best portuguese chicken we've eaten in Montreal and we've tried a few. We've been to this restaurant a few times before Covid-19 and their food is just great and prices are reasonably. You could spend almost as much on fast food and not getting even close to this. Their sea food is also very good... I mean, everything we've tried there was very good. I'm really hoping they can survive this tough times. Looking forward for the...
