Jarry Smoked Meat — Restaurant in Montreal

First off i have been eating here for 25+ years and it has always been a good place. till this last visit the FOOD was excellent as usual but the service was not even close. the place was not busy when we arrived (small group) and we decided to have drinks before ordering, that seemed to tick off our waitress she gave everyone at the table the feeling like we were already taking too long in her section (it was almost empty btw) after the drinks we ordered our food when it finally came i did not receive what i ordered i had ordered a spaghetti smoked meat and ok i got that but it was also covered with a thick layer of melted cheese over it when i mentioned that to her she said just a moment and walked away, i waited and waited after 3-4 minutes i figured screw it i am starved lets eat i realise i don't have utensils finally flag down another waitress and ask her she says she will tell our waitress. well another 3-4 minutes goes by and still no waitress, had to go to their prep station to get them myself and our waitress is still nowhere to be seen btw. i peeled off the cheese and most of the smoked meat that was embedded in it and left it to the side so i could eat something. two of us had taken their special with the desert and coffee included well once we were finished eating and yes i was still waiting to see what she was going to do about the wrong plate we could see her working the section but completely avoiding us, we got so tired of waiting for her to come so we could all order coffee or at least bring us the bill we all got up and dressed to leave. and still we stood there waiting for her to show her face again, finally another waitress asked if she could help and we told her we just wanted to leave but couldn't get the bill. she ended up helping us out instead of our waitress, when i asked about what happened since i was still waiting to find out what they would do for my messed up plate oh and we couldn't even get our coffees or deserts for her lack of attention. you could see other waitress felt bad and out of place she offered to go talk to the manager but they were not there at the moment but should be back any moment if we wanted to wait longer. we just paid the bill and left but sadly the people i was with refuse to ever set foot in there again and most likely i will...

On the way to on the way to Quebec City My girlfriend and I stopped here for lunch. Parking was easy and it wasn't busy so we found a seat right away.

The waitress quickly brought over the menus. A minute later she brought the waters before giving us a few moments to decide what we wanted to order.

Right away I noticed that the prices here were a bit higher compared to the other smoked meat and poutine restaurants I’ve visited in Quebec. Of course this didn't deter us so we ordered a smoked meat sandwich and a poutine to share for a quick lunch.

Both of the plates came out in less than 5 minutes. Unfortunately, neither the poutine or the smoked meat sandwich were any good.

The poutine was watery and the gravy had no flavor at all. Since the gravy was so watery and the fries were so thin it ended up turning into a soupy flavorless mess. We ended up leaving most of the poutine on the plate.

The cheese curds were decent.

The sandwich was also disappointing. The bread was stale and there was barely any mustard. All of the meat was stacked up at the front so the last few bites ended up being nothing but leftover bread and crust - a total waste.

Both of us left disappointed and I definitely don't...

I do recommend the food here and is usually very tasteful, but...that being said. There is more to running a restaurant with good food. So is the service and the quantity in the dish. With tonight's delivery I feel a little scammed. The 2 poutines I got 1 regular and 1 gratiné, I feel cheated out on. You can clearly see on the regular one especially how its nearly half full. Plus I paid the extra cheese! For what i received and paid it should have been full like 99% of every other poutine I've received in delivery. The 2nd part to my review is based on experience in restaurant, asked multiple times for water, I had even ordered a 2nd dish and I still never received my water. Than asked for the bill and waited 20 minutes ask again, waited another 20 minutes I got up to go pay at the exit a d was told I had to wait at the table, sorry but it shouldn't take 40 minutes to pay a bill. Maybe consider a better system where we could order the food on an app assigned to the table and pay when complete the same way. Would increase service timing and also easier on the waitresses on busy days. I removed 1 star based on service and the other based on food quantity ...
