Read moreThe food was ok but the customer service was HORRIBLE. Unfortunately, it seems like a common complaint based on the reviews.
I went to the restaurant to order. Was told that it was too late to dine in given it was close to closing time, which was fine as I wanted takeout anyways. I paid for the order and asked how long it would take. I was told 15 minutes. Given that there were no orders after me or didn't see anyone else waiting for food, it sounded reasonable to me.
After 25 minutes or so, I walked up to the cashiers and asked how the food was coming along. I was told that once ready, someone will come give it to me.
I was called after 45 minutes with my food. I told the cashier that this was way beyond 15 minutes. He said he didn't know the kitchen would take so long. He said 15 minutes based on the fact that there were no other orders. I told him nicely that had I known it was 45 minutes to prepare, I would have kindly left and not ordered . I asked if they could compensate me for the time, which is a fair request. He said he could maybe give beverages but that's it. I said if it was possible to speak to a manager but he told me she left. I said I'd call tomorrow and asked for the drinks compensation. He then recanted that and said no, and have a nice evening. When the other workers came to ask what happened, I tried to explain but the guy cut me off and told me to have a nice evening.
I honestly wonder how businesses like this survive with such bad customer experience, despite all the feedback. This place doesn't care for that, so long as they make money...
Read moreAfter finishing a workout nearby and having skipped supper, I decided to stop in at L’Afghan Grillade without doing any research beforehand—a decision I would quickly regret. The dining area itself is well laid out, brightly lit, and features interesting décor, which initially made me optimistic. Unfortunately, the positives ended there, and the experience went sharply downhill.
I ordered the shawarma sandwich trio, advertised outside on a large poster for $10.95 plus tax. However, I was charged $15 plus tax without any clear explanation. The disappointment didn’t stop there. The poster shows a generously stuffed shawarma, but what I received was a sandwich divided into two halves, each with two tiny pieces of meat and a generous helping of lettuce and French fries. It was, in all honesty, a lettuce and fry sandwich.
Despite only three other tables being occupied, several tables hadn’t been cleared, and no one seemed in any rush to clean them. I even had to change tables because the one I initially chose—labeled as “clean”—had grains of rice still on it. My meal took over 20 minutes to arrive, and when it finally did, it was barely warm.
Taking a bite, the aroma of the meat immediately put me off. I ended up eating only the fries and drinking the soda before deciding enough was enough. With another shawarma spot just a block away, there’s no need to settle for this experience. I won’t forget to check Google reviews next time—and I certainly won’t...
