Restaurant Shish-Kebab — Restaurant in Montreal

This is the worst experience I ever had in my entire life. Yesterday, we went to have Easter supper with family. We reserved for 27 people (9 seniors, 11 adults, 5 kids and 2 toddlers) almost 6 days in advance and we got there in time, at 5:30 p.m. They left us waiting for almost 45 minutes just to get our table which was completely dirty and full of plates with leftovers. Then, they finally decided to clean our table so we can sit and they gave us the menu. After around another 20 minutes they came to take the orders. They left us about 30/45 minutes and then the disrespectful manager came to tell us that the order won't be ready before another 1 hour. Imagine with seniors and kids who were already waiting for about 2 hours to eat, and they have to wait another one hour. One of us asked if we can have at least fries for the kids they rudely refused and said they have to serve all plates together.

Where in earth can you get such INHUMAN, CRUEL and UNKIND answer. A RUDE manager who doesn't get that we have toddlers who need to eat and was starving due to their SLEEPY service, DISRESPECTFUL behavior, and MEDIOCRE service. A HORRIBLE PLACE BY ALL MEANS.

Anyway, some of us decided to go somewhere else to eat and the UNPROFESSIANAL stuff came to tell us that it's was better for us that they left because it will accelerate our order as 2 persons out of 27 ordered sandwiches WTH how on earth 2 people out of 27 total dared to order sandwiches from the restaurant's MENU, OMG SUCH A DISASTER.

Telling us that 2 plates of sandwiches is the main reason why our order is delayed, PLEASE SOME RESPECT!!!

Anyway, we waited hoping to get our Easter meal and then we dared asking for water !!! Imagine 2 hours and half with even a glass of water.

The waitress came finally with water, standing on the top of the table passing the bottles to the first person sitting on the top of the table so he can pass it to the person next him and so on, until we reach the last person sitting on the opposite side. So the UNPROFESSIONAL WAITRESS made us do the work for her, we did our own service for everything, plates, napkins, water, glasses, etc... WHAT A SHAME!

Finally, we decided after more than 3 hours to go as we were not, are not, and will never get our Easter supper, because some DISRESPECTFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNKIND people decided to ruin our family reunion and our Easter supper. Unfortunately, this is not to FORGIVE nor to FORGET.

Overall, it was the worst experience ever, Would give it a BIG FAT ZERO if I could, SLEEPY service, RUDE manager, HORRIBLE PLACE, AWFUL UNPROFESSIONAL STUFF.

I'm surprised to see so many good reviews, maybe the food is really good but we didn't even have the chance to try it! Arrogant staff especially the manager there today, worst restaurant for events/groups. We waited 1 hour after getting there on time at 5h30pm for our reservation. Once they finally set up the table, we had to ask for menus 15-20 minutes later. No water no bread no nothing to at least compensate for the time we waited before getting our table. We waited 30 minutes after finally ordering before the manager came to tell us it would take at least 1 hour before getting our food, what? We didn't even get water at that point still, let alone some bread or anything else to eat in the meantime. We had young children who were waiting during this whole time with nothing to eat, and when one of us went to see the waitress to get at least something, she replied arrogantly that she was too busy, sorry ma'am? We asked so much at that point right! Half of our group left, then they finally brought some olives and bread. During this whole time, two other groups came after us and had their tables setup and minutes later, started receiving their food. We still waited after seeing them serving those tables for nearly 30 minutes more with nothing coming to our table. We asked for the manager to come back, but he was in the back hiding apparently working, his initial 1 hour wait became 1h30 if not more, with our group being even smaller at that point. If you're a real man, you're gonna talk to me after reading this review you coward, wasted our time without even saying sorry, the minimum you should've done when you said we were going to wait that long instead of whining about how busy you are. Why accept all these reservations if you can't fulfill them? Clearly you got no class dude. We ended up leaving, 3 hours waiting to get served any food. Worst part is that we spoke to another group outside, when we left, who complained about how they got scammed paying way more than they should've, let that sink in. With covid and the lockdowns, all restaurants were affected including you probably, the least you could do is serve people well and get back to your best after such a hard time, instead of scamming and lying to people! Waiting to see if you're a real man. You ruined our family's...

We are writing this review after many years of eating at SHISH -KEBAB restaurant.

It's rare that we ever write reviews at all. However, the consistently excellent experience we had in this restaurant has motivated to write this review as an expression of true appreciation. We also wanted others to benefit from our good experience.

HERE ARE OUR RATINGS, EVALUATED OBJECTIVELY:

 FOOD QUALITY: IS EXCELLENT! The meat cuts of the Kofta & Kabab [beef cubes] are very tender, of high quality. The seasoning, cooking, and grilling are made by very experienced cooks, using old-fashion charcoal grilling to produce a special flavor.

 FOOD QUANTITY: The main plate portions are very large and more than generous. As well, there are several free side portions included in the meal's price.

 SERVICE: This is a family-owned and operated business. The owners are very cordial & friendly. They offer very good service. Also the food orders do not take long to be prepared.

 SETUP & AMBIANCE: is warm, clean, agreeable, and well lit.The place is suitable for couples, families, or groups who like to sit and be well served. In the summer, there is a pleasant outdoor area to eat in open air.

Furthermore, the owners have recently performed an extensive renovation and modernization of the restaurant and the kitchen, which has significantly added value to the restaurant's environment and effectiveness.

 PRICING: is more than reasonable, given all the above strong points.

 CONCLUSION: If we were to be the judges of AN ACADEMY AWARD COMPETITION for Restaurants of Egyptian / Lebanese Cuisine, THE OSCAR WOULD GO TO SHISH-KEBAB...
