Nostos — Restaurant in Montreal

First time visit. LAST TIME! I attended this restaurant to have a quick bite with 2 others. I went on a Saturday at noon and the restaurant was approximately 30% full.. I ordered a plate of calamari and three chicken pitas. The waiter informed me that the calamari had no dipping sauce. It was an extra.. i’m assuming the dipping sauce cost about $.30 and I advised the waiter to cancel the order . if the owner is too cheap to put a simple red sauce or yoghurt sauce, I was surprised he’s still in business. We waited 18 minutes for our three chicken pitas, and we saw plenty of people walking out with bags of takeout. The owner neglected his clients that were eating inside and this is where we all decided to leave. The owner or some employee followed us outside and he asked us what was the problem. I told him it takes 20 minutes and we’re still waiting for our food when the restaurants not full and you are neglecting your customers that are inside and dealing with your takeouts the owner tells me that it takes 20 minutes to make a chicken pita.. instead of accepting accountability, and knowing that you are neglecting your customers, the owner just tried to find excuses. Unfortunately, this is not a place that I will ever recommend or attend again. I haven't been to Nostos for a few years now but I was elated to experience their yummy food once again. The first thing I noticed walking in was that this place has been completely remodeled. I liked the menu and the murals. Very nice!

I went with their Souvlaki pita as I remembered it being awesome as well as a side tzatziki. The first thing I noticed was that both tzatziki and pita had a few pinches of paprika? I will admit it was a first for me and I regularly eat Greek food at a variety of Greek restos. The good news is that I love paprika and it was ok. :)

My major issue was the pita being on the slim side. That's a huge no-no for me. I'm used to eating pitas filled the the brim with delicious Greek ingredients and I felt I only got 2/3 of a pita but at full price! I also felt the pita didn't really stand out at all!! Usually when I finish my pita I always contemplate getting another but after this gaunt pita I couldn't care for another.

The tzatziki was good and the bread that came with it hit the spot.

The service was alright being neither great nor bad.

Price-tag it was fair but with the average undersized pita it left me wanting more. Perhaps one day I'll come back and give it another shot but with so many great options in this area... that might...

We ordered some takeout today unfortunately we were totally disappointed. It’s been quite some time since our last experience and I must say this one was undesirable they forgot to the tzatziki sides that are offered with main plates, no big deal, and they did compliment us with a regular portion when we showed up at the counter after having to drive back to the restaurant and pick up what they forgot to put in the bag. Anyway by the time we got back to the office our meals were cold. As for the pork gyro and chicken gyro plates what can I say; they were sliced in chunks that were tough as nails and bland as could be, as for the souvlaki, and pork gyro pita again a total bust. Believe me I’m not one who usually complains, in my book if I’m not satisfied with my food experience I just take the pill and never go back.
