My absolute favourite brunch cafe in st-Henri. LOVE that there's live jazz during brunch; what a great atmosphere. The food is so good, not pretentious, but interesting enough combinations and flavour to even the simplest dishes that adds really nice extra touch without steering too far away from a typical breakfast/brunch. The prices are also equally great compared to most other places in the area; you actually feel like you're getting something reasonable for what you're paying (even if it might not be expensive ingredients. To me, brunch should not be something so fancy that it costs $16 for a piece of toast with chopped shrimps and mackerel on top. Even though that's delicious, it's not brunch to me). Finally, the atmosphere is incredible! It feels like I'm in my grandmother kitchen... super homey and cozy, friendly staff, and again the live music makes it amazing. The only problem I had with the place was that my friend who arrived 5 mins after me and went to the washroom before ordering, ordered 10 mins after I did and got his simple eggs and a bagel 40 mins after I had my breakfast and had already finished. Service in that was extremely slow, thus the 4...

La Luncheonette (4271 Rue Saint-Jacques, Montréal, QC H4C 1J7) - this place intrigues you right from the street! ✨ You can tell just by looking that it's something interesting.

Walking in, you step into a completely awesome atmosphere. First off, the music is great, and second, the decor is really beautiful. Absolutely everything - the chairs, tables, paintings, mirror, coffee bar - is just magnificent. You can feel that everything was done with taste and that both the owner and the staff put a lot of heart into their place. I'm thrilled! 😍 I especially loved the table by the window in the corner. You can not only relax there but also immerse yourself in the street life of Montreal. 🚶‍♀️ The staff here is fantastic - friendly and very pleasant girls. 😊 The coffee is excellent, strong - exactly what I needed in the morning to wake up. ☕

The pastries, sandwiches, and burgers - as far as I understand, everything is handmade and looks incredibly appetizing! 😋 I highly recommend La Luncheonette. If you're nearby, you absolutely have to check it out! 👍

The staff is very nice there ! That's the only reason why I gave a 3 stars tbh.

Unfortunately, the food is very mediocre. It's sad cause I heard good things about them. I tried the Soupe du jour, which was a cauliflower soup, but it was extremely blend. I had to add a lot of salt and pepper to have a decent taste. It wasn't bad, just blend.

They seem like they never have grilled cheese ? which is very odd. I mean, I came here multiple times because thats what their known for (from what I've heard). It'll take literally just 5 min to make one on the spot that isn't pre-made, but they don't make the effort. It's a shame. (Note that I tried to come at different hours everytime).

Their croissant déjeuner is very poorly made. Either I don't have a tomato in it, or it's one that is white and very hard. For 8$ a sandwich, I expect it to be better that the average for something so simple, not below.

Also their wifi doesn't work ? Even after I asked for it, nothing worked. Not practical if you go in a café to work a little or do homeworks.

But the vibe and the employees...

A very whimsical and cozy place where in summer, you can enjoy a seat outdoors with a very decent cup of coffee (only 3 milk options), homemade baked goods, sandwiches, soup, salads, chilli and more. Sometimes they have gluten-free, vegan options. The only thing is they don’t have their lunch “service” figured out too well. Those who wish to order to-go and those who take a seat to dine in and those who wait at the door to be assigned a seat. No direction given which often leads to chaos of some being served immediately and others having to wait over 35 minutes before even spoken to hence, my rating. The staff is pleasant and kind and seem to enjoy working here. Some really care about their customers too which is refreshing. So, the only thing that would make this gorgeous gem take a step up in its category , I would personally suggest, is for the management giving clear directions when it comes to the client service during lunch to not raise any further people complain as I have witnessed during my time spent there. Otherwise, I recommend 100%.
