I wanted to like it, but honestly WHAT A MESS. Extremely chaotic experience, the owners seem way over their head here. I suspect the owners decided to open a restaurant on a whim and/or way overestimated their organisation skills.
First of all, you do not have enough staff to handle the flow of customers, especially on peak days and hours. This is hurting you big time because:
Secondly, you have portion, consistency and quality control issues. Some tacos are underfilled, and others have almost a fist worth of meat in a single taco, which is not so nice to eat actually (exaggerating a little bit with fist comparison, but you get the point). Besides the fact that it’s not nice for the customers, this is also hurting your own business. Restaurant margins are usually very thin, and portion control, planning & logistics is what will determine if your joint is financially viable or not. Furthermore, consistency will help with retaining customer loyalty.
So basically, with the poor customer experience and the poor financial planning, the chance of the business closing in a year or two is very high. I expect most customers will visit once and not come back. If I was you, I would try to fix this ASAP or cut my losses right now and close shop.
Last (but not least!) I find it super suspicious that you used the same name as another extremely popular taco joint located ON THE SAME STREET (the older restaurant is located on 7221 St-Hubert, and you guys are on 6794 St-Hubert). Very concerning and shady. You even copied their instagram name but only changed a character (the older restaurant uses @latoxica.mtl and you decided, among all available usernames, to pick @latoxica_mtl). I don’t know what is going here, but there seems to be no indication from the older restaurant that you are in any collaboration together. I don’t know your relationship with them but this looks like low-key theft and plagiarism, which makes you look pretty bad and unethical.
Also there definitely seems to be someone hating your guts that publishes all these « I got sick reviews ». Not sure if any of them are true, but despite all the bad things we experienced here, the food did not seem rotten or anything like that. We also did not get ill, but I suppose your...

I was really looking forward to trying la toxica cuz the almost 4.5 *, but unfortunately, my experience was a letdown. As a lover of authentic Mexican cuisine, I was excited to see what this place had to offer. However, from the moment I walked in, I knew something was off.
The decor was DARK, but it felt like a stereotypical, watered-down version of Mexican culture. The menu read like a laundry list of Tex-Mex staples, with barely any authentic options to speak of.
I ordered the ENCHILADAS DE POLLO, hoping for a flavorful, POLLO. What I got was a bland, overcooked piece of Pollo that tasted more like something from a chain restaurant than a genuine Mexican dish. The "salsa" on the side was straight out of a jar, and the "Mexican rice" was just plain white rice with some token tomatoes and carrots thrown in.
Overall, I was disappointed by the lack of authenticity and flavor at la toxica If you're looking for real Mexican food, keep looking. This...
Read moreThis place was recommended by my husband’s colleague, and I’m so glad we tried it! At first, I almost didn’t go in because I had my baby with me and the music was a bit too loud. As we were about to leave, a server kindly approached and asked why. When I explained, he immediately said, “Don’t worry, we’ll turn the volume down.” I was amazed, despite the place being packed, they cared enough to make us comfortable.
The server who took our order was also very friendly and helpful in guiding us through the menu since it was our first time. The food was absolutely delicious! We’ve been loyal to another Mexican restaurant on Jean Talon, but their portions and quality have changed. This place, however, was such a pleasant surprise; good prices, big portions, tasty food, and genuinely considerate staff. We’ll...
