I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mucca in Montreal, and what a delight it was. As our server graciously informed us, the menu changes every few weeks—so while our experience may not be replicated dish for dish, the artistry and care are unmistakably constant.
The ambiance is warm and inviting, with low lighting and modern décor that feels both intimate and stylish. We were seated at the bar, which, while visually elegant, lacked a footrest, leading us to improvise a solution for comfort.
Though there were no sugar-free beverage options, the bar staff excelled in their craft. My cocktail, infused with rosemary, was impeccably balanced—refreshing and sophisticated.
We ordered all five appetizers and were not disappointed. The charcuterie board featured perfectly cured meats with crispy onions. The carpaccio was fresh and flavorful, with a bold tuna-mayo sauce. The salad was light, with bright orange segments; a few more would’ve been welcome. The burrata with fig sauce was divine—creamy, fresh, and well-balanced. The polenta, while well-cooked, could have benefited from a more vibrant sauce.
Fresh, warm bread was served alongside, and it was simply outstanding—pillowy inside with a perfect crust.
For the main course, we enjoyed the Strascinati di Cascia—house-made pasta with sausage and a rich, satisfying sauce. A rustic dish executed with elegance.
We then sampled every dessert. The apple strudel gelato and mint lemon gelato were fresh and bright. The citrus tiramisu was inventive and refreshing. The risotto cake with amaretto crumble was a hit at our table, and while the chocolate sausage wasn’t quite to my taste, it was certainly unique.
Despite being busy, the staff were attentive and gracious throughout. Their poise and professionalism matched the caliber of the food.
In short: Mucca offers a dynamic, evolving menu with beautifully prepared dishes, thoughtful service, and an atmosphere perfect for a memorable evening. Highly recommended to anyone...
Read moreThere is a reason why the reviews have nothing less than a 5 star rating!! It is not often I feel the need to review, but it has been quite a while since I have been floored by the overall experience from a restaurant. The tasting menu is an absolute must; you truly get your money’s worth. Being a group of 5 we were treated to a sampling of almost everything on their menu and everything was simply amazing. The burrata with the ground cherry jam was “lick your plate” that good. The beef tartare was fresh and better with each bite. The homemade pasta choices were each innovative and delectable… we needed to ask for more bread to scoop up all the sauce! Next came the 3 choices of meat and the moooo in Mucca really showed itself. The platters of meat were out of this world delicious and cooked to perfection. Even the side of greens and mashed potatoes were simply devine infused with garlic and herbs. At this point we were stuffed to the rim and couldn’t imagine dessert being even better. The lemon tiramisu was absolutely everything (and this coming from someone who usually doesn’t like citrus desserts and knows a good tiramisu when she sees one). The gelato flavours were apple pie and mojito reincarnated. And the ricotta cheesecake was delicate and so fluffy. If the food wasn’t enough, the service and ambience were also top notch quality. After every serving, all cutlery and plates were replaced and our glasses were never emptied.. the attention to detail did not go unnoticed; these people know how to deliver an experience. The music they had going was every best song I wanted to hear and I really need their playlist now! The owner was a true delight and you can tell that this is her passion; serving and doing food exceptionally well without it being pretentious. We will...
Read moreWe had a great dinner at Mucca in Montreal. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a cozy vibe that made us feel right at home. It’s located on Rue Saint-Zotique in the charming Little Italy neighborhood, which adds to the overall experience quiet, local, and full of character.
We started with the Fiori di zucca zucchini flowers filled with ricotta. The dish was light, subtly crisp, fresh, and beautifully presented.
For our main course, we ordered the Costata, a 20oz rib steak from Holstein cattle aged for 50 days. It was cooked perfectly medium, just as requested , great flavor, generously portioned.
To finish, we had ice cream served with a crisp waffle tucked in. It was incredibly delicious creamy, rich, and satisfying.
One thing we really appreciated is that Mucca makes many of its recipes fresh in-house including the bread, which was warm and delicious. That extra care in preparation really shows in the quality of service and food. The person who served us was friendly, attentive, and informative. We had different appetites and preferences, and they took the time to check in, understand what we were looking for, and recommend the most fitting dish for the evening. Their suggestion was spot-on, and we fully enjoyed it.
We also had the chance to speak with the chef / the owner , lovely people. They’ve started Mucca with a mission: to keep the menu simple, authentic, uncompromising in quality.
Everything we tasted was top-notch, and the pricing was very good for the quality offered. We’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their signature ice cream & the...
