À NEVER AGAIN EXPERIENCE! Those who have rated this restaurant with 4 or 5 stars are either staff or friends. Don't take these reviews seriously. I visited ths resto for a quick lunch. First of all the lady, the owner I suppose, was on the phone having a personal out-loud conversation with someone. Very unprofessional! As a result of this phone conversation, it took her almost 15 minutes to acknowledge my presence, clean my table, and take my order in the otherwise empty restaurant.
I ordered a soupe tonkinoise large size. It took less than 3 minutes to get my soup served to me. Now I have the soup in front of me. But the phone conversation continued and I had to wait more than 5 minutes for this lady to bring me the vegetables chop suey, lemon, hot ♨ sauce and the utensils.
Then when I taste the soup, it was almost cold. With the result that the beouf saignant never got cooked and remained red/rare. What's even more frustrating, the size of the large soup was the size the small one in the other restaurants. The chop suey was stale and smelled like it was picked out from the garbage. As a result, I could not finish the meal and had to get up and go pay at the cash because the never ending phone conversation would have taken much to long to wait.
Although, I couldn't finish the meal, I was never asked if everything was to my satisfaction. So I never could make a comment to this lady who was way to busy yakking on the phone. But my 6 cent tip must have got her attention. Hence, I am writing this review to set the record straight so that people will know that this is not a 5 star...
Read moreThis is NOT 4.4 stars food. Avoid if you've had good Vietnamese food.
Food was not good -- I went with the peanut chicken because I thought in a place with 4.4 stars it would at least be enjoyable, even if it clearly wasn't haute cuisine OR Vietnamese. The sauce had an odd aftertaste, there was a lot more vegetable than chicken, the rice was kinda dry (and I ordered vermicelli). As for the other dishes, someone had the pho and said it was OK, but definitely not as good as pho can be in Montreal. Another friend had the grilled chicken dish and said you could taste that they used the same oil for cooking fish/shrimp and for chicken.
The only thing that was good was the spring roll, but again, if you got Chinatown you can find several tastier, cheaper Vietnamese restaurants.
Very slow service for our group where the only waitress was cleaning up empty tables instead of taking away our plates. People were served a long time apart, multiple items were ordered and just never came, orders were wrong, and service took so long some people left before dessert, so even the service...
Read moreMy friends and I have been trying numerous different pho restaurant and this one won every category.
The pho is the best I ever had. The broth is home made and tasty and makes your soul feel renewed. I had the beef, which was freshly cut by the staff. It was GREAT.
The staff is very heartwarming. They are very attentive to your needs and what you say. I hesitated between two plates and after I chose, the waitress got me a bit of the other one so I could taste it.
Its a family restaurant. The owner learned how to cook from her mother. And now she is delighted to cook this food for customers.
And finally its very cheap for great quality, AND its BYOB.
Hesitate no more, go have...
