Pizza Dany: A Late-Night Slice of Montreal Magic

Tucked away in the vibrant streets of Montreal, Pizza Dany is a hidden gem for those seeking a quick, no-frills slice of pizza perfection. This unassuming spot is not your traditional sit-down pizzeria; instead, it's a cozy corner where pizza enthusiasts gather to satisfy late-night cravings.

Pizza: 4.5/5

Pizza Dany’s slices are a testament to the beauty of simplicity. The crust strikes the right balance between crispy and chewy, providing the perfect foundation for the generous toppings. Whether you opt for a classic margherita or a pepperoni delight, each slice delivers on flavor without overwhelming the palate. It's the kind of pizza that hits the spot every time.

Service: 4/5

The setup is straightforward – a counter to order, a few stools for those who can't wait to indulge, and friendly staff ready to serve up a quick and satisfying meal. While the ambiance is no-frills, the service is efficient, making it an ideal spot for those on the go or looking for a late-night pick-me-up.

Ambiance: 3/5

Pizza Dany isn't about ambiance; it's about the pizza. The small area is designed for quick bites and takeout, making it an excellent choice for those in search of a late-night snack after exploring Montreal's lively scene.

Late-Night Snacking: 5/5

This is where Pizza Dany truly shines. Open late into the night, it caters to the nocturnal cravings of pizza enthusiasts. The availability of quality slices when most places are winding down adds an extra layer of charm to this small, pizza haven.

Overall Experience: 4/5

Pizza Dany is a no-nonsense establishment that knows its strengths – great pizza served quickly, perfect for those late-night cravings. While it might lack the ambiance of a traditional sit-down restaurant, it more than compensates with its delicious, straightforward approach to pizza. For a late-night snack that hits the spot, Pizza Dany is a must-visit...

I used to visit this pizza place daily when I worked near Sainte-Catherine, as it was convenient for grabbing a quick slice during my 15-minute break. For a long time, it seemed like a great option for fast and easy service.

However, my last visit was a terrible experience that changed my perception completely. I strongly urge everyone to avoid this place.

Having worked in restaurants and retail myself, I understand the importance of good service, commissions, and tips. I respect and generously tip when service is deserved. But this experience was unacceptable.

I ordered a slice and requested Parmesan on it. When I received the payment terminal, there was an option to tip. Since I’ve always paid cash before, I hadn’t noticed this before. Given the minimal effort involved—taking a slice from the window, sprinkling Parmesan, and handing it over—I chose not to tip.

What happened next was outrageous. The employee deliberately served me the slice without Parmesan, as if Parmesan were some rare luxury from their personal stash. It was petty, unprofessional, and incredibly disrespectful.

I believe tipping should reward good service—not be mandatory to avoid being treated poorly. Unfortunately, the attitude at this place suggests otherwise. To make matters worse, the quality of their pizza has significantly declined over the past three years, and their staff seem unmotivated and unprofessional.

I’ve learned my lesson. Now, I go to places like Bellucci or other reputable pizzerias where I’m treated with respect, receive great service, and happily tip for the experience.

This pizza place, however, does not deserve anyone’s business. Avoid it...

Pro: The pizza tasted pretty good. I would have returned for the pizza alone, it was average but very good average. I would recommend. Con: The service is execrable. I get there, there's no menu no pricing no sign anywhere. You're supposed to just guess the price and if they offer anything besides pizza. I ask the guy "can I order a whole pizza?" because it seems to be more of a "by the slice" place? (couldn't tell. no sign no info anywhere) guy dryly and roughly answers "YEAH BUT. IT'S GONNA TAKE A WHILE" Don't know why he had to say it like that? I could have figured making a pizza takes longer than reheating a slice...thank you, einstein. I order one. He gives me his debit machine to pay. Machine asks me to tip either 20, 22 or 25%. There's no option to decline or refuse. Why would I trip a restaurant where there was no service? They have no waiter no restaurant no nothing, it's just a counter where I ordered myself to the chef who cooked it and gave it to me. I custom amount 0$. the guy COMMENTS ON IT. "ahh I see, no tip today huh?" I was so embarassed, super awkward. I couldn't tell him the truth, I'd be stupid to be "negative" towards someone about to prepare my food. So I just answered "no, not today....ehehe...." feeling so awkward and embarassed because NO, I'm not about to give you tip for no service, especially with the super rude and dry attitude you gave me. This pizza joint is on my route back to my place from work and I would have been a regular customer for the quality of the pizza if it hadn't been for the awful experience. It's unfortunate. Be more respectful to customers...

* ignore one star reviews. I've marked them as not helpful. As for temperature concerns, I used my pixel 8 pro to measure the temperature when I got back to my hotel. After a 5-minute conversation and 14-minute walk. Temperature was hot. See picture. I stumbled upon Pizza Danny while exploring Montreal, and I'm so glad I did. This cozy spot specializes in take-out pizza with a smile. The customer service here is top-notch; the owner greeted me warmly and helped me choose a pizza tailored to their personal touch, minus the chicken this time. The slices looked absolutely mouthwatering, and I couldn't resist ordering a whole pizza made just the way they'd make it for themselves. The crust was perfectly crisp, toppings fresh and flavorful, making each bite a delight. For anyone craving authentic, homemade pizza with a personal touch, Pizza Danny is a must-visit!

So after hearing so much about this place, I go there last night with a friend for one piece of pizza. This guy was so rude because there was two of us and we only wanted one piece of pizza AND we wanted it cut in half because we had dinner reservations in an hour. This guy gave us such attitude that we asked him what his problem was, he then started speaking to us in french asking us why we didn't speak french and that we live in Quebec so we should speak french. My friend that was with me does not live in Quebec, he was shocked at this guys behavior as was I. Anyway moral of the story is if you don't speak french DO NOT let this guy serve you and if you only want ONE piece of pizza and you are two people DO NOT go here!! Real Shame !!

Oh, Dany’s salad! Truly masterpiece of culinary innovation. Who knew tomatoes could achieve such a level of crunchiness? It’s like they were genetically modified to defy all laws of nature. Bravo! And my vegetarian pizza? A true adventure. Nothing says “gourmet experience” like biting into a hidden metal surprise. My teeth are thrilled and still recovering, but hey, at least I’ll remember this meal forever. Definitely a must-go… if you’re into edible treasure hunts and dental challenges!
