Wow. Poke has become a really trendy food but its rare to find a place that excels at getting the most out of the dish. Pokai is just THAT SPOT.
It is clear from the minute you walk in that this restaurant was made with incredible care and passion for the cuisine. The decor is clean and inviting, we were informed that unfortunately they did not have any banh mi left as a few large parties of people had just ordered their last oneâs and they restock daily and do not keep any food overnight.
My partner and I both opted to have a split protein bowl, the salmon and tempura shrimp were excellent but the unagi really stood out to me. The bowl is full of fresh ingredients and you definitely donât feel ripped off by an excessive amount of leafy greens or rice like with some other places. I fear I may be setting the expectations too high but this is an excellent poke spot.
We also had the chance to speak to the vibrant owner who kindly shared his history of working in Hawaii, the birthplace of poke. Seems like the food really comes from the heart, and I canât wait to go back and try...

I had a fantastic experience at Pokai! I tried the bĂĄnh mĂŹ and the poke bowl, and both were fresh, flavourful, and generously portioned.
The bĂĄnh mĂŹ was everything it should beâcrispy baguette, savoury fillings, fresh herbs, and just the right balance of pickled crunch and spice. The poke bowl, though more of a modern twist, was equally impressiveâfresh ingredients, well-seasoned, and super satisfying.
What really stood out was the excellent value. For the quality and portion size, the prices are more than fairâmaking this spot a go-to for both taste and budget.
The service was friendly, and the vibe of the place was relaxed and welcoming. Whether youâre grabbing a quick lunch or sitting down for a casual meal, Pokai is a great choice.
Highly recommendedâIâll definitely be...
Read morePokai! I thought the name makes it stand out. Boy! How wrong I am. Pokai got my highest rating because of its ambiance, its service, and of course, its food! I love the design of the boat. It gives diners a sense of being on island eating a Hawaiian dish. Ooh! Aah! I was not there during lunch time but know for sure a simple menu written on the wall would definitely help ease up the line. Food! I tried seafood poke and banh mi thit nguoi. The ingredients, frankly, are pretty similar to other places. The key at Pokai is THE sauce! It gave my taste buds a kick. It's a harmony of sweetness, saltiness, and tartness. Don't forget freshness & crisp. Pokai is THE eatery for locals &...
