July 20th Soft Opening (I initially gave a 5/5 star)
Quick, great and friendly service. Never thought that chicken breast can taste so freaking flavorful and freaking delicious! It was our first time here. Proud to say we were their forth costumers after they just opened yesterday! We literally stalked their every move before opening. So glad they opened a Kinton Ramen resto in CDN! I got the Spicy Pork ramen with thick noodles and it was pretty good. Then I tried my Fiancé’s Spicy Chicken Ramen and is was amaaaaazing! Yup, I am most definitely coming for more! The decor is modern and cozy. Thank you Kinton Ramen CDN!
July 28th Grand Opening:
Today was the 50% off for Ramen noodles. Of course we expect a line up and it was the case. We also expected the service to be slow. But boy oh boy, oh boy.
We waited a good 40 minutes (which was fine) to be finally seated at the terrace. I must say it was lacking service. All waiters were serving people inside. I expected atleast 1 waitor to be out but nope. That person was only there to welcome more people. Costumers started to serve themselves water. A table with an elder man and women and their daughter (I assume) were there before a table of 6 people from inside and the table of 6 got served first! Wow...
We were a table of 3 people and they got our order some what mixed up. We got our order of takoyaki twice to which we obviously said that we already had our order. We ordered 2 matcha cheese cake and another 2 came 20 minutes later. Waitors and waitresses were very lost. It literally took 20mins to get our bill 7:25pm-7:45pm. I sure hope this doesn’t continue. I still gave it a 4/5 star even if my chicken from the original chicken ramen was slightly on the cold side. Not very impressed tonight. I completely understand that it was busy but they should have expected that and hired more...
Read moreWe just had dinner and I had asked the waitress with curly hair(forgot her name, doesnt matter), if both the ramen and the chicken karaage contained sesame seeds because my girlfriend has an allergy to them. She went to "check" with the chefs and never actually asked. So when we got our ramen and started eating, my girlfriend noticed that her throat started itching. She had a feeling that in the broath, there were sesame seeds, so we asked the waitress with curly hair if she could check with the chefs if there's any sesame seeds in the ramen she got. Turns out there was some, and it had to be another waitress (Cheryl) to come to us and clarify that there were some sesame seeds in the broth. This is really upsetting due to the fact that 1, we asked clearly while we were ordering if there were any sesame seeds because of allergies and 2, it had to be Cheryl(if I mispelled her name sorry) to come apologize about the mistake and kindly bring my girlfriend another ramen without sesame seeds. The waitress with curly hair didn't seem to care nor understand how much worse this situation could've been if she had just asked the chefs about the sesame seeds. She didn't show any sort of empathy nor care, and it had to be Cheryl to apologize and empathize with our situation on this matter. So shoutout to her for actually being a great waitress. This review is only getting 1 star, and it's because of Cheryl, nothing else. Also, to the curly haired waitress, remember to refil our cups. Other than that the ramen was really good and the chicken...
Read moreAs I took a sharp turn on Côte-des-Neiges road, I knew that it was time, time to satiate a grumble that was caused from deep within me. With several well ordained cafes by the local community, I wasn’t sure all too well where to go.
Decisions in today’s age, as we know has become paralyzing. As I invited myself to meditate and overcome my food overthinking, I saw an unusual glitter from a sign that spelled Kinton.
The odd juxtaposition of this two syllable name aside, I was intrigued by the colours of batman, the black and yellow that bestowed upon me the confidence that this experience would certainly be no joke: I entered the store.
It was a ramen shop run by a tight knit group of people. Paul welcomed me, Annabelle prepared for me, Henry cooked for me, Gibrane served me. Like a series of well-rehearsed, fluid passes that are ever so common in the NBA, a warm earthly dish arrived with the scent of deeply roasted porc broth that bathed my mouth right away. My tongue did not sink, nor was it ever allowed to rest, as the combination of noodles and the green onions swirled to keep me on the edge.
Alas, the storm had passed, and the calm took place when the yuzu tea came into play. It was a journey, like the ones we make whenever we decide to take a sharp turn in the narrow streets of Golden Gai, Tokyo.
As I went home, I got the message that the crew at the restaurant managed to convey: Take a turn, take a chance—Kinton’s got the...
