R.E.A.L. Bagel Inc. — Restaurant in Montreal

Have been a client since day one . Always overlooked the shortcomings of the place such as average service , not to friendly staff , difficult to find parking . Items on display not priced etc. As their bagels have always been better than the other famous Montreal bagel shops. Bagels are deeped in hot water containing honey prior to baking so that sesame seeds stick to the bagel and the honey adds greatly to the crispness and flavor of the bagel. My last 3 purchases it seems honey no longer used , clearly to save money. Honey is not cheap . At the same token price of a dz bagels has risen but what you get is white bread shaped like a bagel . It no longer tastes as bagel should its tastes like any white bread with some sesame seeds on it. It's only a bagel in name ! Dull looking with no shine that the honey gives and no crispness and flavor that the honey adds to the bagel! In other words its no different than buying a cheese cake with no...

This isn't bad done in joint and you are going for the bagels primarily although the Soleys food is pretty good in the refrigerator area. I come in a few times a year from New York to stock up in bagels which frankly I like more than ST. Viateur, Fairmont, Montreal West and others. No they aren't tiny and burnt if that's what you mean. Still small by New York standards but a little fluffy, lots of seeds and delicious. I offer the US customs officials every time I go over the border, but they decline. Their loss! Prices have gone up, they charged me a dollar a bag on my last order of $150 so that was a bit of a gauge. Cocktail sandwiches, flat ended egg rolls are yummy as are the lakes... Bagels are deficient and good variety of stock. But Overpriced and price gauging. Will explain. Went recently for a challa pricetag 8$!! By HOMEMADE Same bulka challa (and am talking exactly the same challa) at METRO up the street 3.99$!! Yes you read right 3.99! Clearly taking advantage of ppl. Am not going back.Dishonest practise, it’s too bad because I love their cream cheese and chives but will go to csl rd instead they have same produce. It’s inflation and food prices have gone up but this my friends is greed.
