Everything was bad from the start. I could tell it was not a very clean-looking or well-cared for place but I was in a hurry and needed to grab takeout quickly so I decided to eat from there just once. My mistake. I had to keep making sure they didn't put the wrong food in my plate. The person serving me wasn't wearing gloves. After they finished handling my plate, they went back to eating a pastry behind the counter.
I left and took my plate to eat outside in the lovely weather. The chicken was fine. But the onions were rancid. In the shop, the salad bar had looked a bit gross and the cole slaw in particular had looked like it was about to congeal, so I'd just gotten onions, tomatoes and turnips. I'd thought I'd chosen "safe" options but I was wrong.
The garlic sauce was a bit sharp and overly tangy. And the rice somehow tasted like it had a weird chemical in it. I could have just eaten the chicken and rice without the sauce or onions but I wasn't going to eat only a bowl of chicken shreds.
I returned to the shop hoping for a refund. I knew it was unlikely but I'd spent about $18 and I expected to be able to eat for that price. I didn't get my refund, but they also tried to somehow claim it was my fault because I didn't like "Maroccan style" onions with parsley in them. I explained that I liked onions, parsley, and Maroccan food. I just don't like rancid vegetables. Apparently it was also my fault for choosing the options I did. I'd gotten what I'd asked for, after all. Perhaps I was foolish for expecting the food to be fresh and not taste like a weird chemical. I threw my nearly $18 plate in their trash and left.
Don't waste your time or money. There are many other places to eat in the area, including another Middle Eastern option nearby, and in an emergency you can grab something from one of the grocery...
Read moreEdited to add a new experience, look below *June Today I bought the worst falafel pita ever made!!! Generally, food is ok, I've already bought falafel pitas there before and they were good, but today the pita was just a couple of falafel balls (the entire balls, not even mashed), lettuce (lots), tomato (a couple of half slices) and mayo, NOTHING ELSE! Every time I bought this before in every Amir I ever been, the falafel pitas include pickled beets, some salad, and other stuff, not just lettuce, tomato and falafel balls. I don't know if the guy who prepared my pita was just covering someone and he ignored how to make a pita, but he could have told me to wait or ask me what I wanted in my pita. Anyways, I give them two stars because I have tried pitas there before and they were fine and because the taste is actually good, but they completely messed up my pita today :( *July 25 2017 I decided to give this place another chance and it was a big mistake! I ordered the vegetarian couscous to go, but when I arrived home and took the first spoonful I had to spit it out: the couscous was soggy (almost like oatmeal) and tasted awful! I just ate the bland and overcooked vegetables, threw away the rest and had to go out again to buy something else because I had nothing at home (that's why I went there in the first place. I had to change my rating of the place to just one star and definitely I will never buy there anymore. If you want Lebanese/Arab food in the neighbourhood, just three or four blocks south in Wellington street there is a Boustan and a Basha, both of them are much better...
Read moreOrder was never delivered. We called them multiple times (2 hours after ordering) to follow up but there was no answer. Finally, 2h40 minutes after ordering a delivery person called us saying they had the wrong address. We told them we didnt want the food anymore because we assumed it was never coming and made other food (we found other reviews talking about deliveries never showing up). The delivery person said the time of order on the invoice was 7:10 , but we had called at 6:10. I sent them a screen shot of my call-logs to prove it. Did it take them 1 hour to put our order into the machine? Did they forget our order completely and then rush to make it when they saw me calling back multiple times? i guess we'll never know because the delivery man never called us back after saying they would call the manager to see what to do next.
I understand that delivery is in high demand during covid, but 2h45 delivery time while not answering the phone is...
