To be honest, some of the worst food I’ve had world wide. The family decided to try the restaurant as we were looking for pupusas in Montreal and came across it. No one inside (first hint to skip) but we gave it a chance. Parents ordered horchata and it tasted like water with flour (not authentic taste, grainy) the pupusas had zero flavour and was mainly just flour with no contents inside. My partner ordered calamari as it looked nice on the menu, when it came it looked nothing like it and was clearly frozen bag calamari store bought and super oily. All in all, we expressed our discontent in a friendly manner and was received with a oh well sorry. Wouldn’t...

I have been here three other times and the food was delicious! Yesterday, Saturday February 21, 2015, was my th time after a very long time. The food was excellent the atmosphere was very nice also. It is a hole in the wall but the food is genuine and authentic El Salvadorian cuisine. I had with me my daughter and a friend of mine which was her first time and she absolutely loved it. The owners are wonderful down home people. If I would go there again??? A definite YES!!! The prices? Very affordable. My daughter and I together came to$29.00. The plates are full and overflowing. I didn't finish my plate and my friend took her left overs home. El Amigo...

This is my favourite restaurant. It's called "The Friend", and I feel like it's my friend. I love to go here with my -- you guessed it -- friends, and have a nice meal. I like that it's BYOB. I like to have a drink with my meal, but I don't like paying $10 for one mass-produced beer. This place lets me have a few mass-produced beers with my meal, and they don't charge me any extra to do it. I always smile when I walk past here, because I remember all the good times I've had in these walls. I like to eat here on my birthday, because your birthday is a special day when you get to do what you love. And what I love is eating...

Imagine going back to your hometown after a while and going to your grandparents. That is El Amigo in a nutshell Reservation by phone. On location, not a cat. Only us and the only staff/front of house/cook/etc. Menu: extensive. Atmosphere: drama in Spanish on the TV. Decor: inside your parents house. Not wheelchair accessible. Bring your own wine/beer. Food made on order. Came pretty quick. Good portions. Tasty. Had the restaurant for ourselves until 20:00 came. Then 11 + 2 came at once. Staff overwhelmed but did his job. Good prices. TL;DR: come with good company, good wine or beer, and patience and enjoy the pupusas.

What a gem of a place! Lacking in atmosphere but the food more than compensates. Staffed by a single elderly man who both took & prepared our order. His service was pretty satisfactory, but his cooking was great! Menu had a nice variety of dishes spread between Salvadoran & Mexican cuisine. The prices blew me away with how good they were, I ended up ordering 2 pupusas as well as an entire platter. If it wasn't so out of the way for me, I'd come here on the regular & ensure he stays in business.

I came here at 1pm and was the only customer. The bread was prepared fresh but it is hard to believe that the dish itself was prepared this week! I chose to come because of the good reviews; however, the moment I entered I got doubtful. The environment does not seem clean. Maybe if the store gets cleaner and redecorated more people come and consequently the food would be served fresher.
