I really wanted to like this place, I really did. The stars were aligned too: Mouthwatering pictures and reviews on Google. A huge line-up and a jam packed restaurant with people eating on the outdoor patio even if it was 15 degrees outside. An extensive menu with unique dishes. I was sorely disappointed. Vietnamese cuisine is known for the subtlety of it's different fragrances where the aroma of exotic herbs is often conjugated with sweetness and the punjunt flavor of fish sauce. Hoai Huong didn't contain any of that. Absent was any distinct flavor at all. The pho broth tasted like water. The grill meats lacked any distinct flavor. Even the fried shrimp didn't taste anything more than greasy. The final nail in the coffin was the lack of taste in the fish sauce which was dilluted to the point of tasting like salted water. There are many choices for authentic Vietnamese food in the Cote-des-neiges neighborhood, this isn't one.

We both ordered Combo F We really enjoyed the veggie soup starter. So fresh, light and tasty. The beef and shrimp were incredibly tasty and cooked to perfection. The imperial roll was a treat! The service was amazing. We felt warmly welcomed and cared for by at least 5 different staff. Parking wasn't a problem found a spot right in front on the street. There is a terrace out front if you wanted to eat al fresco (it was raining when we went ). The inside is tastefully decorated. Our critique is the chicken brochette. It lacked flavour, was tough and we thought it was pork to be honest. We would come back again, just wouldn't order chicken dishes. The restroom area could use a face lift:)

Great little place for good Vietnamese food. The service was friendly, the variety of the menu was huge (maybe too much selection), but the waiter recommended some dishes for us to try, which all were really tasty and unique. The mango salad had very unique flavors that I would recommend to anyone going here. The two main dishes were very good too, though slightly too expensive for the type of place. I would recommend coming here with an open mind and going with what they recommend. All three of my dishes were well prepared and made for excellent photo subjects. If you take a look at my pictures, we ordered number 24 and 25 on the menu.

I didn't like this place. I ordered the soup with pork and shrimp, the service was quite slow even though the place was not crowded. The soup was actually tasty but I was very disappointed to see it only had one shrimp in it ... only one! I wanted to talk to the waiter but he was nowhere to be found, didn't even come back to offer a refill or to simply ask if everything was okay. I spoke to the person at the cash register and explained how disappointed I was and why. He couldn't explain what had happened, said sorry and didn't charge for a tip which was pretty fair. I thanked him but also let him know I was never going back there. Now, as I write this review I am quite shocked to see the way the restaurant responds to some bad reviews posted here and how they seem not to take any responsibility for the issues brought up by their clients. Instead, the person managing the restaurant's account just tries to turn around all events to blame them on the inconsiderate, negative, rude customers who dare post negative reviews because their expectations were not met. I'm looking forward to your response as in some of the previous low-rate reviews to instruct me on how "sometimes a little something, can avoid something else" (such as an honest review regarding what you're lacking). You really should stop fighting your clients, appreciate the feedback and improve...

I don't always finish my plate, but I did at this restaurant! The food is both delicious and pretty. It's definitely one of the best Vietnamese meals I have ever had. We started with a mango salad appetizer. It was fresh, light, refreshing, and delicious. The mint and peanuts on top added an extra flavor and texture. The only thing is that it said it has shrimp, but it came with about 2 shrimps cut in half; so about 4 pieces. For our main dishes, we took the pad thai, and pork chop plate. The pad Thai was extremely fresh and the vegetables were not made from frozen produce. It had a lot of vegetables, a generous quantity of chicken (which was very flavorful too), and 2 medium-sized shrimps. I was very pleased with the flavors! The pork chop plate was very generous too. The meat was well-seasoned and cooked just right! It was juicy and spot on! The salad was a normal side of lettuce, a tomato, with marinated carrots. The rice was normal but the juices of the meat marinade really added flavor to it. We finished with fried bananas. It was perfect to share! The batter was thin and light, the banana was very delicious and melty on the inside. Overall, it is definitely not the last time we come here....

I am a food blogger and this restaurant had always been my favorite one since I was a child. I brought all my friends visiting Mtl to this restaurant. Today, I brought a friend as usually and all my camera kit to write a blog on this restaurant. However, I totally changed my mind while getting there. The service became horrible. I was adjusting my camera on my phone and was being asked 3 times if I was ready to order, but I was only there for not even 10min. Then, the 1st server throw the menu in my hands and went away.

Then, another server came asking us our order, I said 30 and 4 (drink). But they gave us 2 soups that were actually 13 and 4. The server yielded at me because I didn't precise the 4 was a drink and not a meal. But who knows that you gave the same number to both meal and drink?? I always ordered the same stuff and the server didn't even ask me to precise this time.

In conclusion, I was about promoting their restaurant for free on my blog but I don't believe that their rude attitude worth it. The food was good in the past, it was ok today. However, I dont it worth to be treated without dignity...
