Its a big shame that this restaurant is so nicely decorated but the food is not good at all. There's a lot of wasted potential here, unfortunately...
I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and a bunch of other people with me did as well. The egg was cold, and the broth taste like muddy water. Usually its so hard to mess up ramen, but I think the person in the kitchen had to be inexperience in food preparation or something... because it took so long, and it was not even hot.
The prices are way too high for what it is worth. You can get a lot better elsewhere for less. I do think the prices are high because the condos around the area where it is located are quite expensive, which makes sense when it comes to pricing items according to the neighborhood... but this is really a rip off, which is so so sad. (People who've ordered bad food at a restaurant get it).
Maybe it was just when I went, where the food wasn't good, but everyone at my table did not love the food, which was around 8 people at least. It wasn't even busy and I went on a weekend.
I hope this review, not only helps out others to go elsewhere for better food, but maybe reaches management (maybe), so you can identify the processes in your business that are lacking and improve in both food quality and service and...
Read moreTldr; Amazing Japanese restaurant, with excellent food, choice, and service, that I've ever had in Montreal thus far. For more details please keep reading.
Having moved from the west coast I feel like I've been spoiled by great Japanese restaurants in Vancouver and it's been a struggle to find even a remote equivalent here in Montreal.
But recently I've noticed the opening of Nagomi on my route back home. Today I finally got the opportunity to check them out.
Location: They're on the north end of nuns island. The restaurant has a warm cozy and relaxed feel with interior red decor and wood finishings for a more medium upscale feel.
Service: As soon as we walked in we were immediately greeted and sat down. The waitress was helpful, very prompt, and thorough in answering any questions we had.
Food: We went for the Seaweed and Papaya salad for starters, Takoyaki, Hirata Buns and Shrimp dumplings for Appetizers, beef Yaki Udon for main, and finally the Mochi with sesame icecream for desert (all of this was shared between two people). All I can say is wow, the food was incredible. Every single one of our dishes was pretty exceptional and that, I find, is pretty rare in any restaurant.
All in all, I would definitely recommend giving Nagomi a try, and will definitely...
Read moreNagomi has been open for less than a year and I finally had the chance to try it out (I am kicking myself for not having done that sooner!! ). I wanted to make sure that I gave the place a fair assessment by diversifying my order as much as possible. I walked in on a Saturday night and was greated by the staff with a smile. The waitress who took my order made recommendations and suggestions without imposing or 'pushing' anything on me. My order consisted of a few appetizers which included Okonomiyaki (a Japanese style crêpe that I have been wanting to taste for a while 😁😁). What is a visit to a Japanese restaurant without an order of Ramen. They have multiple broth and protein options. My reaction after every sip was Mmmm Mmmmm Mmmm! I also ordered a chicken cutlett curry pate that was full of flavor without being overpowering. The ingredients were ones of quality and they did not skimp on the quantity either. I am lucky enough to live in the same neighborhood as this little gem and will DEFINITELY be back.... Very soon. Highly Highly recommend. We'll done to the owner of this establishment and the...
