A very impressive hole-in-wall restaurant, Phnom Penh really boasts amazing flavors that accurately reflect traditional Vietnamese food and flavors. Their menu is small - only 9 items (no vegetarian options) - but they do their menu amazingly. I have yet to eat at restaurant that serves better Hu Tiu on the east coast. What's more, my parents love it and they say it truly brings them back to Vietnam. While I highly recommend their Hiu Tiu and Mi (which you can get with broth or dry/broth on the side), they also have amazing rice and vermicelli plates too.
The staff are very friendly and attendant. Service is fairly quick. The restaurant itself is small, but very clean on the inside. As a side note, the hot tea they serve is so fragrant and delicious - it compliments the meal well.
Overall, very happy by this discovery and stop and I highly, HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!
Some notes to keep in mind: This is a CASH ONLY business For those who have difficulty getting around... It's a little over a mile from the Cote-des-Neiges station, but an easy walk (nearby bus stops too) -There isn't any sort of accessible entrance into the restaurant itself as there are a good amount of stair to go up, so keep...
Read moreI used to work super close to that place and to have lunch there about 3-4 times a week. It looks like nothing from the outside so my colleagues did not trust me at first about that place. But eventually, I convinced one of them to join me and he loved it as much as I do. So, more colleagues started to come here and everybody loved the place.
I even had a colleague who asked the owner if he could teach him how to cook like that and he just said "Of course! Come to the kitchen with me!". So, every time that my colleague was eating there, he was cooking his meal with the owner. He even spent vacations in Vietnam with him once!
I think that the only person who had lunch there more often than me was the bean sprout delivery guy. Every single time, that I was there, I saw him come with his big box of bean sprouts, take it to the kitchen and then, sit down and have lunch.
A couple of years ago, my job moved and it was too far away for me to continue having lunch there. But I still eat there once in a while and it's just as good as it was before.
I really miss the time when that place was a 30 seconds...
Read moreI've only had the pleasure of visiting Restaurant Phnom Penh twice recently, but each experience has been exceptional. Their Pho is absolutely delicious, offering a choice of two broths and two types of noodles. During my first visit, I opted for the usual pork broth, which was incredibly flavorful. On my second visit, I decided to try the beef broth, and it was even more impressive—rich and full of flavor. The service at Restaurant Phnom Penh is very friendly, and the food arrives quickly after ordering. I appreciate the efficient and welcoming atmosphere.During my last visit, I noticed many Vietnamese customers ordering various dishes that looked unique and authentic. I'm eager to try more of these authentic dishes on my next visit, as they all looked incredibly appetizing.Overall, Restaurant Phnom Penh has quickly become a favorite, and I look forward to exploring more...
