Jan '24: We tried this place for the first time and were impressed with the seafood quality for an affordable price. They certainly get a good provider for the tuna 💯 The sashimi pieces are thick and fresh. It's the first sushi place where I see more tuna than salmon is served in rolls. What I find not on point is the sushi sauce and soy sauce which is a bit salty to my taste. We got the platter for 4 and the price is amazingly good for this quality.
The place itself is spacious and has a zen decor, music is not loud. They don't have alcohol license so only mocktails available. Overall it was a nice experience and certainly a nice addition for the Griffintown area.
Apr '24: Food and quality are still great. There's now an outdoor terrace also. The only bemol is the service which is kinda slow and the waiters don't come by very often.
June '24: We're trying the terrace for the time and the seating was very comfortable. It has the Ibiza vibes with the sun and a nice background music. The service can't be better as they gave us free sashimi for bringing out the wrong item.
Aug '24: We had a wonderful dinner with friends who tried this place for the first time. The newly introduced BYOW makes this place even more attractive! The sushi/sashimi are amazing as usual. It took a bit of time to get the food but we quickly forgot about it once the food arrived and the alcohol kicked in.
Dec '24: We came back with some friends. Sushi quality is still good but price has increased a lot compared to beginning of the year. Platter Abundance is now $169 instead of $129!! The restaurant was full. We ordered extra sashimi on top of the platter, asking to have it come out first and they were not able to do it. The sashimi actually came after 😐, and the restaurant felt a bit cold as if it wasn't heated enough. We hope the restaurant will keep up with its reputation.
Sept '25: We've been few times since but this time we noticed a difference so thought of writing a comment. We usually order combos and this time the sashimi, nigiri, maki pieces... everything are smaller in size. I'm even shocked to see how tiny it is the uramaki. Seems like it's different chef doing and it's not as good. Quite...
Read moreFirst time trying this place with my friend so we were pretty excited about it. I had made a reservation so we were quickly seated. First impressions: aesthetic is nice, the place is full (so it must be good right??), can't really hear the music, menu looks decent. It took around 15 minutes for the waiter to come see us to take our orders, which was a bit annoying because we were starving but no biggie because we quickly got our miso soups about 10 minutes later. Soup was good! After finishing our soups, we're then stuck waiting for over an hour to receive our sushi platter "planche expérience" which is basically 36 pieces of sushi for $94. Waiting for that long with no explanation at all is unacceptable. The waiter never came to see us to explain anything or to reassure us that it was coming soon. We had to flag him down to ask what was happening before he finally mentioned that our food was being prepared. During this time, there's a table of around 8 people that arrived at the restaurant, I'm assuming they were all a bunch of "influencers" because as soon as they arrived, they rushed to were the chefs were making the food, they whipped out their phones (they had also brought extra lighting), and hovered over the food that was being made for over 15 minutes, taking pictures, videos, and literally disturbing everyone close by (including our table) as well as the chefs making the food. Side note: they also got their sushi before us... Anyhow, our sushi was AT BEST mediocre and definitely not worth the wait or price. Long story short, on top of being disappointed with the food, the service wasn't great and my friend and I both left really disappointed with our experience. We won't be recommending this place to others and won't be...
Read moreThis experience was absolutely revolting. While the food itself was fantastic, the service and bill we received was nothing short of theft. we ordered the “planche experience” for $99 plus a $5 corkage fee. Our total on our printed bill was $119, but when my boyfriend was handed the machine to pay, the French waiter with the moustache who had served us the whole night and who were were absolutely kind to had already added his own hidden tip, bumping the total to $134 without saying a word.
To make matters worse, the machine then prompted my boyfriend to add another tip on top of that inflated total, bringing the final amount to $159, meaning this waiter pocketed $40 in tips, more than 33% of our actual bill.
My boyfriend, stunned by this underhanded scam, stayed silent to avoid ruining our night. But as we were leaving, the same waiter had the audacity to ask why he “only” left a $5 tip, claiming that “the standard is 15%.” At that point, we called him out, and suddenly, he backtracked, saying, “Oh, you’re right, sorry, it was a mistake.” A mistake? No. This was deliberate and deceitful. So disgusting.
The food may have been excellent, but no meal is worth being scammed. This behavior was disgusting, dishonest, and shameful. We will never be returning, and I urge others to check their bills carefully or avoid this...
