The supervisor has quite an attitude and really does not care about the guests and their experience. Quite shocking for someone working at a hotel that runs on the guest’s experience. Majority of the staff did not care about your experience at all. They either forget requests or take long to fulfill them.
First room the bathroom light didn’t work and the phone wasn’t even working, they moved me to another similar room and that room also had problems.
Whoever was the supervisor that night gave me attitude saying “well we gave you another similar room so that’s the best we can do” she had a condescending smile and laugh. She should never be in hospitality. I got fed up and I never went to the front desk again.
If I’m cold, experiencing problems in both rooms and you tell me there’s nothing that can be done, it’s ridiculous and not the experience I expect from a hotel from the Mariott.
The shower head had high pressure water that felt so sharp it pricked my skin and felt like I was being cut by unreasonably high pressure. Beware of the shower if you have sensitive skin or pregnant.
The room looked like a motel, the view was the only decent thing about it. Room service consistently forgets your order, you need to remind them again.
The staff did not care about your experience at all. They either forget requests or take long to fulfill them. The housekeeping just left my garbage beside my coats. They did not look happy when I asked them if they could clean the garbage they left by my coats.
It was so cold the heat barely worked. We set the heat but it always defaulted back to a cold temperature. The maintenance team said I had to tuck in the curtains to get maximum heat which didn’t even work but ridiculous when you spend hundreds a night. I had to get a plug-in heater which they were low on heaters because everyone was asking for one due to the heaters not working well.
The heater only works in one area and the window zaps out the warm air so the room is cold especially in the winter time.
Also, one of the neighbouring rooms’ guest (because they put me in a connecting room) tried to enter my room / open the door. It was a scary experience you would not expect from a 4-star hotel.
The room and the service felt like I was staying in a 2-3 star motel. Paint was peeling off, there was mold on the walls, the towels had stains on them, the place wasn’t cleaned well.
After this incident, I don’t ever plan on going to the Mariott ever again. The worst experience, the staff couldn’t care about you. They didn’t even bother to ask “how was your stay?” at the end of checkout. It was a quick checkout and leave from their end.
Not sure why you would hire people who don’t understand the concept of customer service or delivering an unforgettable experience. Absolutely ruined my experience and thank goodness my stay is done. I was honestly counting the days until I...
Read moreThis place... I so want to give this place 5 stars because there are many good things about the hotel. Unfortunately, there are a few negative things that stand out. Let's start with all the reasons this place is great.||The hotel is beautiful and actually stands out in the skyline because of its unique architecture. The reviews are right, it does smell really nice throughout the hotel, a floral scent not too strong, but just enough to please the olfactory senses. We chose a Park view room and the view was amazing! The place was pretty clean and most employees were nice, especially reception. The location is great because it is walking distance to everywhere in downtown Montreal. Because the hotel connects to the Underground City, it is quite convenient when it's not so nice out. We walked to Mount Royal Park, to Old Montreal, and even all the way up and down St. Catherine St. from Westmount all the way into the Gay Village - a very long walk for most. These were the furthest points on the map we could venture by foot, but that's almost everything we wanted to see in downtown. All in all, a great hotel.||Now, for the minor issues we had... Our room was a park view room on a high floor near the elevators. There is a humming/buzzing noise coming from the air conditioner unit in the wall that was humming all night, every night. I could see that as a problem for sensitive sleeperes. Then, there was the elevator issues. One of the elevators got stuck several times during our stay. Luckily, it wasn't between floors or anything like that, so after a few seconds of being frozen, the doors just opened up and we took another elevator. This happened 3 times during our 4 night stay. This also exacerbated the fact that the elevators were so busy that it took several minutes to catch one going down and had to wait in line to get one going up. And the last thing that I want to mention is how unfriendly the concierge staff was. They were really friendly when we first arrived and I handed out tips, but after that, not once did they say Bonjour or even smile, when they knew I was a hotel guest. The only other time I got a big smile and a gracious "Merci." was when I tipped the valet on the way out of the hotel. I just thought this was a little weird for a hotel who prides itself on high quality. Like I said, this was only the outside staff. The inside staff was great!||So, with reluctance to take off one star because of all the positives, this is truly a 4 star hotel, maybe 4 1/2 stars. All in all, a...
Read moreThe hotel is extremely old. I was given a room in a very old part of the hotel. There were newly renovated rooms in the hotel. Usually at Mariott hotels the mini bar has some snacks or there is atleast 2 bottles of water in the room. Well, there wasn't any here. Nor were there any vending machines on my floor. To get a bottle of water I had to goto reception and get one from them. If there was a convinience store around hotel property, i would have helped myself to it but at 12 am the options are limited. The convenience store in the hotel wasnt open 24 hours and it isnt expected for it to be but there should be options for customers to at least get water besides calling room service. The store in hotel was extremely overpriced too. Try purchasing an Advil here, it was $14.00 and the same would cost $6 at a Jean Coutu in town. It is almost daylight robbery. If one were to use self-park in the garage, it would be single entry only and not multpile entry even though the garage was in the same hotel. Yes, the garage was accessible to public but this is not my first time at a Mariott. Other hotels do allow multiple entries even in self park, one has to goto the front desk or conceirge and get an exit ticket for 1 time use and by paying for garage use at front desk it eliminates people from skipping to pay all to gather. The staff was courteous for the most part I have no complaints about them. The cleaning lady was nice too.
But my overall my experience was horrible. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone and I feel they do not deserve to carry the Mariott brand. lastly, I asked the reception if i can get a late check out then she said, I can get until 1 pm for free but If i want till 2 pm then she will have to charge me for it. My loyalty to Mariott has been primarily due to late check outs (when available) clearly late check out was available but they wanted money for it. Now, its possible that they must have over looked my membership but then, arent you supposed to know that from the get go? I did not argue or wanted to throw my membership status as a bargaining card. I rather deal with it afterwards and never come back to this hotel. Location of this hotel is amazing! its right in the down town area. If you need a crash pad then...
