Uniburger — Restaurant in Montreal

First time we went to this Uniburger location, I went in to try their impossible burger. A man claiming to be the owner told me that all of his meat was hallal (except for the bacon, which was cooked on a separate grill), that convinced me to change my order to a beef burger. This quickly became my favourite burger spot in Montréal, because the beef burgers were juicy, tasty and simply AWESOME.

Unfortunately, when my wife went a subsequent time, she asked the employees if the beef burgers were indeed hallal, which they answered they weren’t, and never were. This disappoints me, since I only stick to hallal meat for religious and ethical reasons, but most importantly I’m worried that I’ve been lied to to land my business.

I understand that this might be a misunderstanding, so if I can get a statement that the burgers are indeed hallal at this location, then I’ll gladly change my review to a five star. If not, I’ll stick to my two stars and never order from this place again.

Ok here’s a summary from a-z for Wellington uniburger. From the outside the sign is ugly, as your walking in the titles are all broken, so someone could fall. Place is very small, only 6 tables available but clean, the three times I went in it always sounds like the two women cooks are always fighting which is not nice to hear, they need to update the board, drinks that are up there they don’t have, also they don’t say that they charge for there special sauce, but when you ask for it they charge a dollar, bathroom is nice and clean, I went today and they made changes to it. Cashier women is nice and interactive, burgers are amazing, but a bit expensive, fries are far from good, there milkshakes are ok but across the street they have milkshakes that are not that expensive, the poutine does not have enough cheese and they need to give more sauce. Went for a last minute meal before the evening with a few friends and 4 of us ordered an impossible burger, some with cheese some without. Unfortunately halfway through my meal I recognized a taste I haven’t had for over 15 years since I’ve been vegetarian, and realized the burger they served me was actual beef. I was the only vegetarian so I gave the rest to my partner, but the other burgers also clearly looked like beef as well. It’s my fault for being too hungry for realize at the beginning, but afterwards I paid attention to the staff who were giving me avoidant side eyes.
