Just got over $100 of take-out (four dishes plus rice). Thoughts: Pork Fried rice is OK. Could use a bit more egg (or ANY egg) but it's OK --- 3/5 Satay Beef is supposed to come on skewers, according to the online description. it isn't. Also, not super-tasty. Where is the satay flavour?!! --- 1/5 Mushroom Chow Mein.... WHAT THE HELL?!! DO NOT ORDER unless you want super-salty crappy noodles with the SLIGHTEST bit of mushroom. Where are the vegetables and sprouts AS PROMISED ONLINE?! Nope. Just extra-gross salty thin noodles. Are ALL of their chow mien dishes like this?! And is so... why? --- 0/5 (and would rate lower if I could) Beef With Mushrooms - this was the only dish that resembled what it should be like. Decent flavour, lots of mushrooms and the beef is OK. 4/5 Honey Garlic Ribs... I had a craving for the kind of H.G.Ribs that I've had all my life. This ain't it. Why they are battered is beyond me. Is there ANYWHERE in Nanaimo that just has normal Honey Garlic Ribs?! I thought this was a staple amongst Canadian Chinese-food places, but once again very disappointed. 2/5
Not recommended. The service was awesome, I foolishly tipped high because they were so pleasant and I was excited to try a new Chinese food place. Guess I'm the fool.

Read moreOh no! Another previous favourite lost! I've ordered takeout from here many times over the years but I stopped in the other day and decided to eat in. It's been some time since I last had a chance to eat their food and this time was... so disappointing! I ordered a combo. The rice was... okay? It had an odd taste to it, but I figured they might have needed or chosen to change the recipe, and since each Chinese food place can vary quite widely on their flavours I'd probably just get used to it.
I made the mistake of finishing the rice so I could eat the chow mein and s&s pork last.
The chow me in was SO. SALTY. Like did you cook this in the ocean salty.

The s&s was unpleasantly chewy on the inside. The coating was hard in the way something fried gets when it's been cooled and then reheated too long in an attempt to make it crispy again. The sauce itself was more vinegary than I'm used to.
It's very unfortunate, because the service was, as always, stellar, and atmosphere-wise they've done a marvelous job of designing the inside so beautifully that you forget your view outside is parking lots. But I couldn't face another...
Read morePreordered take out for NYE two days (Thursday) ahead for pick up at 6:30 pm (Saturday). We had ordered Beef Chow Fun (alright), almond chicken (very good) vegetarian chop suey (alright), bbq pork, large portion (mediocre). Total with tax came to 68$, 10% tip to a total of 76$.
I had preordered several days ahead because I knew they would be busy, and wanted to make life easier for everyone involved.
I called Saturday at around 4, to confirm my order and that we would be there to pick up at 6:30 that night. They confirmed and I was there at 6:30.
I was told multiple times that my order was just getting packed up, but ended up waiting for 35 minutes, before finally leaving with my food at 7:10 that Saturday. I assume they started making it when I arrived at the restaurant, as it took thirty-five minutes to get my food.
Something, I had tried very hard to prevent by both preordering two days ahead, and calling earlier that day to confirm my order.
The food was not worth the wait, and quite frankly, had I paid after I gotten the food and waiting the 35 minutes, instead of paying as soon as I got there, being told it was just getting pack up, I would not...
