Being fairly new to Nanaimo, I’d been trying to find the perfect diner experience. I really don’t like the ambience of a lot of places, as I feel they throw everyone in the middle of a room like cattle.
This place was different. Not super busy, always have a nice booth with good ambience and plenty of nice booth seating… it really feels like what a diner should be.
The food is great. I love being able to get a nice BLT or clubhouse and a coffee. I’ve tried a lot of other menu options and have liked them all.
My 10 year old son loves this place, too! He’d rather come here than any other restaurant in Nanaimo… I’m not sure if it’s because of the fish and chips, or for the awesome service, but I totally agree with him. It’s become our little tradition for breakfast or brunch.
The service is definitely amazing. Every single staff member there had just been awesome every time. Even other patrons are fun to talk to. The manager is the friendliest, coolest person ever. She even let my son make his own sundae, which he loved!
If you haven’t already popped by this place, it’s definitely worth doing an illegal...
Read moreThere were approx. 24 to 30 people in our prearranged to arrive at 4.00pm for dinner. MGM also knew in advance that in most cases checks would be for two people. Tables were set up appropriately but from then on things went downhill. It took more than 5 minutes for a waitress to arrive to take a drink order this was after we had signaled that we were ready to make an order. It took a long time for drinks to be delivered then a further delay before menus were distributed. I could go on in detail but I don't have the time and you probably don't have enough space. Enough to say that it was almost 7.30pm before we got our bills settled. Almost three hours! This was not because we had long discussions over food but because we had long discussions before our orders were taken and even longer before the food arrived. Overall a dreadful dining experience. If you go as a couple then there at best average might be OK. But for an arranged group this...
Read moreMy sister and I stopped in Nanaimo to have dinner on our way through. This place was visible from the road and looked busy. so we stopped. The funky lady who took our order was lovely and we had a conversation about how everyone.was on Keto these days. She had a lovely young man shadowing her, he will make a good server. The hostess was beautiful and friendly. We ordered a ceaser salad to share to go with our individual meals and this is what we got for 14.00. My sister's cordon blue was cool in the center. I had a seafood plate. I didn't want fries so ordered extra veg. And got a few more carrots with the odd sliver of Bok Choy and zucchini thinly sliced scattered in. Our salad was so jam packed with croutons and barely any lettuce?! We loved the atmosphere. All ages of clientele.all demographics. Maybe we will just stop for...
