So I was really looking forward to my Birthday dinner at my FAVORITE restaurant. But unfortunately the service was absolutely terrible. I even asked a friend who I was there with what she thought, and she even said that the service was horrible and the waitress seemed miserable. This is also coming from myself, who used to be a waitress and from my friend who currently is a waitress. The whole time the waitress was doing the BARE minimal. No eye contact, no smiles, no small talk. She would literally drop things off at the table and quickly take off. When it came to the end, where I wanted a dessert as it was my Birthday, my friend had to call after her what the dessert menu was, as she grabbed the plates and just took off. Then when we asked for our checks, which we had to flag her down to ask for them in the first place, she just assumed the brownie would be split between all of us, and so I asked if it could just be on ours, and she sighed, raised her eyebrows and just said FINE. Then after waiting for about 10 MINUTES for our revised cheques, I was getting upset, and ready to walk out....and that is coming from me( little miss 2 shoes) and my bf being amazing as he is patiently said we could wait in the car, as he would pay. I am just so utterly disgusted and dissapointed in this Waitress's attitude. I was wanting a great night and was in a great attitude when I walked in. So Milton street Public house, whomever this concerns, please have a chat with this waitress. She was working tonight November 9th at 6 pm. She was tall, with long dark hair that was put up with very fair skin. She looked a little like Snow White.

Sincerely,

Your...

We were a group of four. Ordered the steak sandwich, chicken wings and falafel wrap... all with fries. Let me start by saying all of us agreed this was the best fries ever... really! The falafel wrap was very good... it is very chilli though, for us at least. As far as the steak sandwich, the presentation was great... one of is liked it ok. For me, the meat was cold for what's supposed to be a hot sandwich. That was a big turn off for me as I expect steak to be hot and only like it that way. The server was kind enough to bring a new one and she brought it with another side of fries (so that fries was a very well received bonus). The steak was warm (still not hot though) so it was ok for me... I thought it was medium rare (they never asked how I like it cooked as I would've preferred medium well). Finally, they charged a dollar more for the steak sandwich than what's advertised in the menu. I only realized after we left so didn't inquire. Although the steak sandwich was a disappointment for me, I felt they were very nice trying to fix it and made 30% tip as a thank you and for the extra side of fries. I will definitely come back for the fries... as far as what to order with it, I'll probably ask for the falafel without the chilli, maybe chicken wings or try something else... definitely not the steak sandwich. And I can't think of an explanation as to why I was charged extra for it... although...

This is the worst place in Canada that this 74 year old man has ever dined. (And no, I am not a grumpy old man. In fact, I am renowned for my kindness and patience). The ambience was underwhelming and we nearly froze everytime the door opened. We found the menu extremely limited. My wife finally selected a BLT or BCLT sandwich. It was substantially under par, so she could eat only 1/2 of it, and she left the crispy fries after eating 2. I asked for a very plain hamburger. It was good, but only about 3 ounces. I ate most of the fries, but I abhor crispy fries. The fountain drinks we had cost 4 dollars each. They cost about 5 cents to the restaurant. To add insult to injury, they charged us an 18% tip automatically. As an elderly Canadian, and a very generous one at that, I strongly object to mandated tips. They should be given from the heart and reflect good service and good food. WE ENDED UP PAYING $75 FOR A HORRENDOUSLY POOR MEAL. IMAGINE, $75 FOR A SMALL HAMBURGER, ONE UNAPPETIZING FRIES, IN A TINY BOWL, I MIGHT ADD, AND 1/2 A SANDWICH WITH 2 FOUNTAIN DRINKS!!!

We have already told about 30 people of our horrible experience at your restaurant and will continue to tell all our contacts. (I really wonder if you will leave this on your website or delete it when...

Two matters separately: food and atmosphere Atmosphere: It depends on your personality. To me it was creepy and dark. You might like it but I didn’t at all. I expect somewhere with positive vibe and it felt like someone has tried to make everything like a crime scene. They did it well though. The knife was disgusting. Lady’s washroom has an empty chair in it like somebody’s watching you while you’re doing your work! And with creepy photos on the wall Food: the starters are nice. We tried fries and cauliflower and they tasted well enough. But tuna smelled and tasted below average. My friends didn’t like their falafel and burger too. Way more expensive than it should be as well. And the staff didn’t pay attention enough. Overall it doesn’t deserve its ratings. We were new to Nanaimo and it was a random choice just based on ratings. Not worth it.

This is a small converted house and my concept going in was that it would be a much larger venue. It turned out to be quite small and intimate. They were set up for a large party and it was quite disappointing to see only one third of that large party actually showed up but the pro was, better service for us. My companions and I had different burger combos with their Calamari appie. The dipping sauce was a Siracha sauce and we quite liked it. The ingredients were all high quality and fresh, attractive presentation and the service.....it definitely warranted a good tip in our appreciation. Unfortunately, I was visiting and probably won't get a chance to return but I would like to. I don't give 5 star ratings often but this was a very good experience and I recommend this restaurant.
