A group 4 of us girls came into the cafe after school and upon being there and buying both coffee and a baked good each we were super unsatisfied with the service...the cafe was very quiet only two other people there and we sat down at a table beginning to study...within a few minutes my friend took out a water bottle and we were told no outside food or drink...we kindly and respectfully put it away, then a few minutes later the owner told us to leave the cafe because and I quote. “we are not a Library” sure I understand if we didn’t buy anything and we’re taking up space but we were not...upon research this falls under a conflict of our rights as customer's...we had done everything on our part and since then we have chosen to go somewhere else as well as spread our experience with the public...when you walk into any coffee shop it is very clear there are teens cramming for test and studying, imagine being a teen and being told you are not welcome somewhere because of the way you are presenting yourself...sorry white rabbit cafe for ruining your aesthetic by having out a water bottle and some school books, but this was very personal to us and the discrimination made us feel powerless against adults, please don’t expect us back... if anything you should’ve praised the idea of us bringing in more customers and sharing a respectful...

I’ve always loved visiting The White Rabbit, but today’s experience left me genuinely disappointed.

When I came in, I was excited to enjoy one of my favourite local spots, but the woman working was unusually curt and dismissive. I asked what the difference was between the two salads in the case, since there was no information provided. Instead of explaining, she just repeated the names with an unkind tone and no effort to clarify.

Trying to stay polite, I chose one and kindly asked if it could be warmed up. She was also noticeably rude to her coworkers, especially to the one who was kind enough to warm it up for me. When she later brought the salad outside, she said in front of other guests that she would “never go out of her way to do that again” and that I should “never ask for my quinoa salad to be warmed up again.”

It was embarrassing and disheartening to be spoken to that way over such a small request. I’ve always valued good food and kind service, and this experience was neither. I hope management takes this seriously, as respectful customer service makes all the difference. Sadly, I won’t be returning after this visit. —she said she was the manager. :( ...

really lovely looking coffee shop! the staff we spoke with are really friendly. however, the food we had yesterday wasnt amazing. we got the bacon grilled cheese and the iced banana latte. unfortunately the bread of choice wasnt the greatest, kind of pancake texture and not toasted enough, as well as the deli style cheddar cheese in the sandwich not even being close to melted, with very rubbery bacon as well. the banana latte was also very sweet, too sweet for my liking. and the flavour was just not my thing, but maybe others would like it. but the big thing here was having mad food poisoning like an hour after being there. kind of put a damper in my day lol. wasnt sure if it was the sandwich or coffee. furthermore, i do really love the next door sister business black rabbit, i love it there and very much recommend everything about it. however my experience with white rabbits food just from yesterday kind...

I was excited to try a new local cafĂ© today, White Rabbit CafĂ© on Selby Street in Nanaimo. The atmosphere is lovely, bright, and clearly curated with care. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the setting. I ordered an Americano, which had a very bright, sour flavour. Some people might enjoy that style of espresso, but it’s just not for me. I prefer something bolder and richer. More concerning was the $12 sushi rice salad, which tasted extremely sour and the texture lacked freshness. I checked the bottom of the container and saw it was dated July 17, and I was there on July 22. Five-day-old rice is questionable at best. When I mentioned it politely at the counter, the staff member was dismissive and told me, “We have people that check those kinds of things,” with no apology or concern. I decided it was best not to risk it and left. I sadly can’t recommend this place, despite its inviting vibe.

Wish this would have been our first stop in Nanaimo! We had to do a breakfast re-do, if you will, as the first place we went to in Nanaimo wasn’t really our vibe. Loved the atmosphere, and felt like this is a spot where the locals hang out. And I love me a local hangout đŸ„°

Great local cafĂ©/coffee house in Nanaimo. The owners are clearly passionate about what they do. The coffee brewed when I visited was Fernwood. I ordered a flat white and it was perfect. The only place in Canada I’ve been where I haven’t been asked what size of flat white I want (it’s only 8oz, in case you didn’t know). Although I didn’t use any, I noticed a nice selection of spices to sprinkle over your cuppa, such as cardamom. They serve a small selection of light fare. I tried the avocado toast and breakfast cookie. The avocado was sprinkled with house-made ‘everything bagel’ seasoning. So good. The oatmeal breaky cookie was also lovely, with fruit and seeds. The space is modern and they have built all of the wood furniture themselves. A lot of care and effort has gone into this place, and it’s definitely worth a visit.
