I have recently discovered this cute little coffee shop here in Nanaimo and finally found a place that has amazing croissants... the only problem is the staff.. the woman that works at the front is so mean and so rude to everyone. Seems to always be snappy and really rude. I have come here many times this past month and her attitude has always been problematic, not just with me but with everyone. The last straw that led to this review is her making a doordash person wait 5mins to grab him a bag that sat on the counter while she made drinks. Doordash delivery workers are paid nothing and their time is valuable, all she had to do was turn around and pass it to him. She told him instead "I am in the middle of something here and will help you once I am done". I am so disappointed. This is supposed to be a welcoming shop for the community. That attitude is absolutely not welcoming.

EDIT: In her spare time between orders, she is making fun of customers who placed an online order for a breakfast sandwich for 1pm. How is this allowed?? She then takes her other coworker and goes out to vape in front of the shop....

I've noticed a decline in the quality here since Christmas. The last few times I've come in the bagels have been dry and stale, and so difficult to bite into and chew, nothing like they were a few months ago when they were the best in town. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant last week that I couldn't even eat as it was so dried out. I've noticed when the owners are working the quality of things are even worse. They're eating while serving customers, wearing their purse while serving customers, and it's very unappealing to see someone's backside when they're bending down preparing your food. The bagels are not cut, no napkins or bag provided. There seems to have been a price increase, but a quality and service decrease.

It's disappointing because I loved coming here daily, but it's no longer worth it to spend the amount of money I was...

Darian (sp?) was wandering through the Old City Quarter with samples (full size) and introducing herself to the area merchants. I tried the blueberry Danish and was wowed!

I didn't make lunch this morning, and what a great decision that was! So I scurried off to see my lunch options!

So today I tried the Chicken and Fennel on the Rustic Sourdough - amazing!

Everything is made in-house and the combination of flavours... chicken, garlic mayo, apple slice, pickled fennel, and some kind of chutney.

I am a big fan of good bread, and the Rustic Sourdough hit all my buttons! Great crust, solid slice, and flavourful. It definitely was the linchpin and held...

Edit: extremely annoyed at these coffee kids, I've spilled about 4 times now, the lid doesnt click onto the cup properly! Friendly experience for sure. Chicken/apple sandwich is fresh and delish. The jelly/chutney? they put on it is a very nice touch. Iced coffee latte was a bit bitter for me, but I'm not really a coffee person so I'm sure its fine for others. Wish they had more space for seating! Pic it sandwich included (well, half, cuz I ate it so fast.)

Here, on a short visit from Vancouver. I stopped by this cute cafe where I was greeted with all smiles from the staff. My caramel macchiato was perfect, but the highlight was the chocolate cherry scones. My God, these are NOT your Cobs bakery scones they are 10 levels above absolutely amazing. Thank you. I will definitely be returning.
